Hi - have lost both keys for my ET4 and am getting conflicting advice on what I need to do. One shop said that some locksmiths have a probe that can go into the ignition tumbler on the steering column that reads the code, and with that, they can make new keys without having to replace the CDI box and the locks on the seat and steering column. Anyone know if that is true, and if so, know of a locksmith in the NY/CT area that has that ability?

If not, have been told I have to get the CDI box reprogrammed, and replace the seat and ignition locks and keys that match the new code. If that's the case, any advice on how to 1) Open the seat lock without the key? And 2) Remove the ignition tumbler and casing from the steering column.

Would appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

Thanks!

No way can the immobiliser code be obtained by inserting anything into the keyhole!

You can buy a new CDI with immobiliser bypass, or buy a new Piaggio CDI, and then also a new lockset.

As far as I know, there is not a way to reprogram the cdi on a carbed Vespa.
