Thanks! BTW I love the avatar. This is the costume I made for my son a couple of Halloweens ago:

Since I can't find any frame damage so far I'm going to chalk it up to a bent fork. Tried getting a better picture.

I will not know for sure until I pull off the front end. Unfortunately I have to put the VBB back together first. Not enough room and too many projects.

Hopefully the steering column isn't bent inside (but wouldn't that show on the body?)

Depends on how bent the centerstand is, but generally, the front tire is off the ground on the stand. Mine is off the ground.
Exploring a little more. Looks like the back mounting bracket is crooked. Would that play a roll?

You'll know for sure once you can drop the fork and measure it. I'm pretty sure that if you're lucky, it's just the mudguard was bent back and not straightened right. Worst case is straightening or replacing the fork.

Nah, that's because the engine mounts are worn out. Probably the upper shock mount buffer, too.

Basically, if it's rubber, it probably needs replacement.

That's probably a rubber bushing that has given up the ghost. Looking at your last pic, it looks like only one leg is touching the ground, which usually means the stand is bent. It also cut thru both boots. When you replace the boots, put a nickel or a dime ( whichever fits) in the boot first then the stand, that will stop the rubber from getting cut from the inside.
Still a little envious of your project GL!

Thank you!

Yes only one leg is touching. The guy who sold it had a large gravel driveway and couldn't even tell it the center stand was bent.

Awesome idea about the stand rubber. I can't wait to dive into it. Hopefully it can be a gift to the wife down the road. But first I got to get this VBB running. But before that I have to actually order the parts.

I'm at the point where I need to remove the seals but I'm convincing myself it's going to be super hard.

Good motto. I can't wait to get into this bike but I need to finish the current project. I'm guessing the engine is pretty similar to the VBB so I'll learn on that first!

With a little bit more pushing on the fender, the gap is a little wider.

Oh and my wife got me an intro to welding class for my birthday. I need to build an engine stand!

Oh the welding will go so much farther than just the engine stand. very valuable skill to have, when dealing with scooters!

Your fork may be a little bent. Is there a bolt holding the fender on, on the back side of the fender? And is it tight?
Here's a pic of the gap on my GL.

How do you like the Crimaz front disc? Someone (I think Ginch) said it's effective, but super-dive-y.

I really like it! Good feel, easy to modulate.
Stiffest spring i could get keeps the diving controlled. But that dive is inherent to the design.
In normal braking 25% front 75% rear, stops plenty quick, panic stops i don't care about dive, I just want to stop. Short version, I drive around the weaknesses of the design.
