Hello, i have recently bayed oil filter and oil motul 7100 5w40 for my mp3 300. After that i have contacted previous owner just to see what oil was used before. He has told me that oil was changed at authorised piaggio dealer and service station and it was used Castrol 5w40 scooter. Since i was on lookout for JASO MA oil i have learned that Castrol scooter oil is JASO MB. So i was going to my store to read from oil declaration and found out that it is JASO MB oil and on front side there was text "Recommended by piaggio". After that i have Searched manuals from all piaggio models even with wet clutch like Vespa GTS 300. And MP3 with wet clutch in manuals Piaggio recommends JASO MA oil so why is on sticker recommended by Piaggio on Castrol oil and is there some Piaggio model that really recommends JASO MB oil?
As jimc says above both will work, only difference between both is a so called friction additive to get so called better fuel economy, marketing hype me thinks.

The people in Japan who come up with these standards don't make and sell motor oil.
