Just a curious question, was the 2005 PX frame made in Italy on their machines? Was the LML the ones who provided frames to Vespa?
I know I am 2 decades late to this question but I can not find a straight answer.

I believe LML definitely made frames (among other things) for Piaggio, but don't know what percentage and what years.

Agreed with Ginch.

LML made and supplied a good number of frames and parts for Piaggio, whilst Piaggio also created there own also

There is no clear data source I can find either around years of cross manufacturer. Plenty of anecdotal evidence abounds on the inter Web.

Some even go as far as to state that LML contained many of the pressings for Piaggio that failed quality control - I'd take that last one with a bucket full of scepticism and salt to taste.

I can't tell you about that, but for sure all alu castings from LML are very low quality compared to piaggio.
I have a brand new LML 5 ports engine, engine casting should be the same as a PX piaggio engine, it is ok from outside, but inside oh god… Not the same moulds or, which I believe is the reason, quality of aluminium is way different.
I will look for some comparative pictures on my computer and post them soon

I would guess you would have to do the same with the frame and see where they are welded. Could be small difference in how they are assembled if there was some done at different locations. The engines doesn't surprise me, a lot of companies will outsource engines on bikes for cheaper models such as royal alloy is doing right now.

I have read more than once that the Piaggio and LML final split came about in 1999. I don't think they had anything to do with each other after that, but who knows.

Piaggio did not completely split with lml untill around 20010.. where the 1999 rubbish comes from god only knows.. yeah i know its on wikipedia , but that is just proof wiki can be a liar..
Piaggio were making their lx range of scooters in italy at that time .
A lot of people dont seem to realise just how good the indian made scooters are, and how many were actually branded as vespa until the break up between piaggo and LML. lots of scooters say made by piaggio when infact they were made by LML in india..Most that went to usa were either called Vespa or then later the Stella.

here is my little lml star 4 stroke auto 125cc
my scooter is 2015 and goes very well , top speed is between 58 to 62 depending on winds and weather. and i weigh just over 250 pounds (18 stone in the uk) and will still go just over 50 mph with 2 people onboard no problem.

What county the scooter is made in is part of the VIN, so the PX was not made in India but parts could have been. ZA is the country code for Italy.

I had no idea that my US market 2005 vespa Px150 is just a rebranded LML. Now i'm wanting to sell it so that i can purchase a Genuine real deal LML, not this low quality LML knockoff that i've had for the past, oh 20 years.

LML did not make frames for the European and US market PXs. Every frame was made in Italy. They only made frames for the Asian markets when demand was high and Piaggio Italy couldn't keep up…

Is the 4 stroke automatic version even considered classic?
