Modern Vespa

I have no Piaggio dealers even even close to me (none in NI!), so I'm going to have to buy service parts online. Where do people recommend?

Next week I'll be doing an engine and transmission oil change, and potentially a new spark plug too (which I realise isn't going to be Piaggio branded).

You can probably find what you're going to change at a regular auto parts store. You don't need a Piaggio store for this.

For oil and spark plugs you do not need genuine Piaggio parts.

Well this is proving harder than expected!

Local motorbike stores, of which there are few, can't help. Ron Daley do't haver the oil filter in stock, and Easyparts, which I think is in Germany, want £20 shipping!

Even Amazon is struggling, with high shipping costs and massive lead times.

Does anyone know of anywhere else I might be able to get an oil filter, and sparkplug too?

Hardly, it was a 51-49% split. Successive polls suggest that buyers remorse has made a lot of people realise they were conned/brainwashed into thinking it would be a good idea.

Oh awesome, not head of them before, but they are just down the road. They are not Piaggio dealers anymore, but hopefully they can still get parts. They're closed for a few days, so will try them at the end of the week.

Just down the road? Your profile states Ireland, not NI. Some of the responses might have been quite different if it's actually NI.

Well some would say NI is Ireland, but that's for a different day!

To be honest, I've just got into the habit of saying Ireland cus most people outside of the UK and Ireland get too confused as to the geographical location of NI. But I do take your point. I've edited it to just say NI.

Consider getting a bunch of spares that'll be needed in the future - plugs, filters, belts, rollers, gaskets, brake pads etc. Then the shipping 'per item' is minimised.

That's actually what I thought of doing with a euro supplier. But it'll still be much cheaper for me to bring back a suitcase full of stuff when I next return from Spain. I head over in July and come back mid Sept. Hey, maybe it's a new side-line for me

I'm going to call Davys on Friday, when they are back. I've also found the dealer in Scotland who originally sold the bike. They might do spares too.

Excellent solution! It's what I do between the US and UK. Cheap tools etc from the US; tea and Marmite from the UK.

Did you manage to get an Irish passport? Jealous if so.

I did get one! I'm English by birth. A Londoner. Moved to NI 30 years ago. I managed to get an Irish passport due to the time spent on "the island of Ireland". Took four years!

My wife and daughters were all in NI so get one by default.

Can get them from the local Piaggio dealer easily.

Davy and I sold and bought a lot of bikes. Poor guy had a fatal heart attack and the business was taken over by a family member. Davy was a real character. Such a loss to the local community.

Just off the phone with Davys, spoke to someone in the serbice dept, his computer is down but he rekons he can sort me out. Sounded a top lad. Firing over an email now with that I need, then hopfully going over to lift it later today or tomorrow.
