Piaggio uses both: generic and manufacturer specific codes.

The generic codes (see second digit) can be googled or should be shown in your tool. The manufacturer specific ones should also follow the the general rules for the third digit, but the manufacturer specific meaning (last two digits) not so easy to interpret.

You will (usually) find a few codes in the workshop manual for the vehicle in question, but not all of them. I am not aware of a generally valid list. The only thing that helps here is to google the error code and hope that it has appeared somewhere before. Note: with the manufacturer-specific codes, it doesn't help if they are used on other motorcycles or cars of other brands, at most Aprilia (also Piaggio Group) this COULD be helpful.


How to read error codes:

First digit:
P: Powertrain
C: Chassis
B: Body
U: User network

Second digit
0 = generic
1 = individual by manufacturer

Third digit for "P" ("Powertrain")
0, 1 and 2: Air/fuel metering control
3 : Ignition system
4 : Emissions control
5 : Engine idle control
6 : On-board computer and additional outputs
7, 8 and 9: Transmission / Transmission control
A, B and C : Hybrid drive

Last two digits:
Consecutive numbers for concrete error definition.
