Pk50 3 speed makes a odd noise when I spin the rear hub... Normal or will I have to investigate more?

That's going to be an investigation.

Cruciform has backed out. That used to be the old Indian beat.

Dang... I guess I'll be having to convert to 4 speed sooner than I expected. It's just a stock 3 transfer 50, think I can keep riding? Seems to shift fine.

I'm sorry, I had the wrong cruciform in mind. If it does that while you are coasting I'd stop riding it and go inside and look.

Found another thread that has the exact noise as mine and including the free play while in gear.
Rear Wheel Noise
Seems like it's not too much of a concern? My scoot was owned by a restaurant for deliveries in Italy and has over 20k km on it. Seems like they took very good care of it tho.

If you put torque on the shifter towards 1st or 2nd, is there a spot where the noise stops?

No. I tried both ways and it drops into gear before the noise stops.

That's "cruciform clack".

Either the cruciform is worn, the gears need shimming, or the selector needs to be adjusted. Possibly all three.

Is it detrimental? I'm going to go with wear and needs shimming.

In my book, any noise like that is considered detrimental.

Just checked and it's 4 'clicks' per revolution in either direction. So it sounds like it's something with the cross.

Maybe the balls have worn grooves in the cross legs and made neutral sloppier (wider?) than it should be.

Could be one leg hitting four slots or one slot catching four legs. The fact that it does the same thing it either direction is curious. ALso, listening to your video, it is odd that the rhythm is a pronounced 1-234,1-234,1-234. Does it play the same beat each way?

But the noise goes away in all gears?

I am looking forward to what you find.

Yes, plays the same beat both ways. And yes clutch pulled, in gear, noise not present.

After the proma exhaust, boring the 16.12 out to a 16.16, the clutch is slipping something fierce. I think it will be time to pull the motor and kit it. I'll probably do the full Monty. Primary gears, 4 speed, full circle crank, 135-170 cylinder. Just trying to figure out how far I want to take it. I typically like doing mods in steps but can't really easily do that when you have to split the cases for each mod.
