Hello. If I, the happy owner of an lx 125, were asked: what is the most unreliable part in your scooter? I would say that it is the speedometer cable.
I bought a scooter 3 years ago, drove 15 thousand kilometers. Today my third cable broke. The first two broke near the speedometer, the third 15 centimeters from the mount on the wheel. That is, everywhere in the places where the cable turns. 2 cables were original, one was not original.
My daughter bought an lxv, in one year one part broke on her: the speedometer cable.
People, how long do speedometer cables last on your lx?
Yes, I lubricated the gears on the wheel, in the speedometer, nothing jams.

I will buy a new original cable, like the one already installed, and I will only change the cable itself, without the sheath. This shouldn't be difficult.

replaced the cable completely, together with the sheath, lubricated it....
Tell me, is the speedometer needle stable on your LX? because on my scooter the needle vibrates a little...

Mine is stable, but not as smooth as a gts. Manual says don't lubricate the top of the cable that goes into the instrument panel.

new cable. but after 2 months the speedometer needle jumps again. put a new one again. the jump is less, but it is there! maybe the problem is in the speedometer itself, not the cable? when you twist the cable near the wheel with your hand you can clearly hear the rustling in the speedometer itself!
is it possible to clean and lubricate something in the speedometer? the scooter is already 20 years old...

I took the speedometer apart, everything spins fine. I lubricated it and put it back in place.
