This weekend I changed the oil in my BV350. The stand really gets in the way, so I'm thinking I need to rig up something DIY to keep it stable and upright the next time.

Anyone made anything? Or seen pics of anything?

I'm thinking some sort of wooden A-frame that supports the bars. But curious to see other solutions.

Or, is there an affordable riser for the home mechanic that will keep the bike upright and raise it off the floor?

I plan to do as much maintaining on this scooter as possible, so don't mind an investment.

Just get someone to stand upright on it while you work on it.

The best thing I ever bought to change the oil on all my Vespas is this funnel. I bend it in such a way that it channels the dirty oil away from the center stand. I bought it from Amazon a few years ago. I use it to change the final drive oil as well. I don't spill a drop of oil on my garage floor anymore.

I use a scissor jack. Something like this:

Also good to take front wheel off.

Harbor Freight sells a wheel chock that allows the MC or Scooter to be held upright. Check fender clearance before use. However you don't need anything if drain oil while on side stand a few minutes, then hold upright a couple minutes, then put drain plug back in. Then put on center stand to change filter. Works for me.

This may help, especially for longer term ( overnight) maint work. Reduces the risk of anyone bumping or knocking scoot/bike over.

Break loose the bolts/plug while on the stand. Lock the brakes or chock the wheels and lean the bike against the wall. You will have to loosen the mirror.
Or have someone hold the bike while you swap the filter and drain the oil.
This is where I change the oil.

A few years ago I used cargo straps from an overhead beam to lift my Guzzi so I could drop out the front wheel.
It worked exceptionally well.

This isn't DIY, but works well for all sorts of tasks and is very reasonably priced. $36
