Aside from being prohibitively expensive… anybody have thoughts or opinions here? It is a sexy piece of kit.

Well I can't believe it doesn't have a laser etched giant Sip logo. Looks nice.

No logo because it's not a SIP product.

That would look ultra sexy on my GS with the Crimaz disc up front. I'm thinking not everyone would agree with that. 🤪

I'll share some of my thoughts…

The original MMW billet master cylinder was decent. It's no longer available anymore. From what i can tell, SIP now makes their own which is almost an exact copy, but if you look REALLY close it's not. The MMW required using set screws (grub screws) to anchor the MC to the handlebar. Not a big deal, except that (at least with the VNA's steel split headset) it will distort the throttle tube enough that it won't rotate freely anymore.

The SIP MC has tighter tolerances, so it's a press fit onto the handlebar. Ideally you would strip down the MC to remove ALL the rubber bits so that when you heat up the MC until it's really hot, it won't damage them. Once the MC is heated up, then it can easily be slid into place on the handlebar. Once cool it's pretty much 100% locked into place. It's a great set up.

The new VP MC looks pretty trick. I don't own one of them. Looking at the pic, it appears that it's not a press fit? I see that it includes two grub screws to fixate the MC to the bar. It might require a few extra screws as well, just to make sure it's 100% locked into place. It also includes a standard rubber piece to help seal out grit and grime from the piston cylinder area. Most all quality MC will come with that rubber seal. The MMW and SIP versions did not!

I don't see that the VP MC comes with a lever. The MMW and SIP versions do.

I'd be interested in seeing one of these mounted up on a scooter. I'm so used to seeing a square type MC mounted on vintage scooters, so in my mind i'm thinking the round-ish shape of the VP might look peculiar? But at the same time, a vespa is more round-ish and flowing lines, so in my own aesthetic theory, the VP should look better on one of our old scooters.

Whodat guy all the highs.
It sure looks pretty stand alone.
Basically an mmw like what I run, with a round reservoir.
A bit more expensive to manufacture the curves.
Agreed - maybe / maybe not better looking once on the scoot.

Whodat - my mmw has a rubber dust cover on the plunger.
I think the rebuild kit that scooter center sells comes with a new one - but it's possible I've just made that up and mine just came with two?

It's not like the scoot was museum-grade to begin with. Do it up your way, man!

Update- i just checked both my MMW and SIP MCs. They do both have those rubber dust covers, just a different style than what VP uses. Carry on.
