Just wondering what your local shop labor rates are. I saw $158 per hour for a dealer in Orange County, CA and $150 per hour at an independent shop in Orange County, CA.

When I see your prices it is a good thing that Americans earn so much

Ah, but here is the thing about wages in the USA… there tend to be those who do very well and those who barely get by. Our federal minimum wage is atrocious. Imagine trying to live on $7.50/hr.

I will hide this from Alex, my independent mechanic.

He was charging $90. per hour last year but went up to $105. on the last service.

That works for me.

Or even on $20 an hour as a tradesman.

After my lawn work this morning I put on a t-shirt that I bought at Bayside Cycles in Frankfort, Michigan that I bought while riding on a Yooper Loop with friends a few years ago.

It reminded me of a tire change at that shop.

While riding, we noticed that Warren (wmak) had a back tire that was starting to get to the cords.

We passed this shop and we pealed off to see if they had a tire and could make the change.

The owner was there and had a tire, removed the exhaust and wheel, changed the tire and put it all back together.

Total charge including the tire. $95.

I wish his shop was in my town.

The guy was amazing...free coffee too! What a godsend. He saved the trip, especially for Warren. Warren got his money out of that tire.

Anyway, great memory.
