Does anyone struggle with the new indicator switch? I am pretty sure that it doesn't operate properly half the time I press it. The tell-tale light is also really hard to see on the dash. Or is it just me and my clumsy left thumb?

There is no HPE2... There have been a few reports of problems with the turn signal switch from MY23. Your dealer should know the problem. The entire switch unit will be replaced, with luck you can swap to the black ones from the SuperSport 310, then you only have to bear the costs for the right-hand side.

I have the 310 Super Sport. Both sides are black. The switchgear is still crap. I am calling it the HPE2 because that is kind of how the US differentiates the newer model HPE with the newer switchgear from the older one. (aka Robot at Vespa Motorsport..)

It's not a matter of being wrong, it's just a matter of trying to make a differentiation I think. And that is, in my opinion, quite helpful.

Without trying to be pedantic, I think the new switchgear is crap.

I appreciate Robot too. In fact, I met him.. way back after driving the support truck for Jess on the 2012 Cannonball. What fun that was!

HPE is the name of the engine. The engine is one of the few things that has NOT changed from pre-facelift to MY23 facelift. Incidentally, the i-get engines (125/150) also had the same facelift...
If you want to call something HPE2, then it's most likely the new 310 engine...

I agree somewhat. I suppose that the main issue is that the US doesn't get the lower capacity i-get engine.

So leaving that behind, how do we fix the crap switchgear? Robot does say that it is high quality. I disagree.

I am almost tempted to add led repeaters to the mirror stems.

PS who are you on the German forum? And yes I do speak German.

I wish my Portuguese was as good as my German, but unfortunately it isn't. Yet.

I have the same username there...

The entire switch unit should be replaced, as I have already said. That should still be under warranty on a 310!? Your dealer will know the problem, if not, he will certainly find an internal Piaggio work instruction.

No Im with you Doug, my 2024 model year 278cc Super Sport indicator switch is poor in use. It can be difficult to select " on" and often requires two prods to switch it off.

I think part of the problem is , when wearing gloves you push the switch to either side, your gloved finger also depresses the centre ( cancel) button, so no signal.

The "new" blinker switch is identical in principle to the one that has been on the Primavera and Sprint for ages. As I said: there have been isolated reports (in the German forum) that the indicators do not flash when the blinker switch is used.

https://vespaforum.de/viewtopic.php?t=60237
(They recommend flooding the blinker switch with WD40 as a (temporary) solution. I don't know whether it will help permanently or whether it will cause long-term damage. I would insist on a replacement.)

Yes. It's pretty crap. Left turn is fine, but I find the right turn doesn't always register. I put it down to me not pushing it far enough with my thumb due to my hand position on the grip and/or bad design. I've been meaning to take a look at it while static to confirm whether that's the case, but so far have always forgotten by the time I get home. I'll do so next time.

I put the satin black switch units on my Impulsive Orange SS, and it's just a clumsy design in my opinion. My thumb, in a glove, struggles to get an easy and reliable activation with it. My 2020 Sprint has a more fluid and larger sliding design which I strongly prefer.

I also battled with the indicator light, so I pulled the speedo apart and drilled a hole in the panel above the LED. Much brighter now and just a glance will tell me when the indicators are on.

While I was about it I also painted the speedo needle bright white. Couldn't see the red on a sunny day.

That is crap, and the light is all to small. They could add a sound too, so not have to watch is it or is it not? Mine is last years crap.
It would be interesting if they just change the unit for another hoping it is better, or has there been any developing of this? My guess is: no, as the 310 has this same, and this has been a problem from 2023.
So, the warranty is no warranty to get anything better, just the same...

Apart from the stupidly dull idiot light, I have managed to fix the switch.

Yesterday I sat on the GTS and turned the indicator on and off. It only worked around 50% of the time. The switch would be in the on position, but no indicator and no idiot-light. I then moved the switch quickly and repeatedly from left to right around twenty times.

Result. Now fully operational. I have also squirted some ABUS PB88 lock lubricant into the switch which has made its operation smoother too.
