Hello,

Need this electrical diagram explained from a logic perspective. I searched elsewhere in the chapter and it only explains how to take apart things and to put it back, not what each component is supposed to do.

In particular, I need to know what the following components do:

1. geared motor what does it do?
2. brake caliper sensor - checking pad wear or something else?
4 potentiometer - don't even know where this is, didn't see any knob
6 and 7 why are 2 of them needed?
8 what kind of tester can I use?
12 why does the light switch take input from the tilt controller?
14 I assume it's a fancy name for a relay, right? same for horn item 16
15 senses what oil pressure and why
And also what's that thing a littler lower and to the right of number 14? Is it what it looks like, a push button? Is it push to close or push to open?

Thanks

1. geared motor what does it do?
Drives the gearbox which drives the brake caliper (to loch the tilt) and hydraulic mastercylinder (to lock the suspension).

2. brake caliper sensor - checking pad wear or something else?
The disengaged position of the brake caliper

4 potentiometer - don't even know where this is, didn't see any knob
bolted on the front of the gearbox

6 and 7 why are 2 of them needed?
to detect speed of both front wheels.

8
I think the Piaggio handheld computer to parameterize the controller

12 why does the light switch take input from the tilt controller?
?

14 I assume it's a fancy name for a relay, right? same for horn item 16
yes

15 senses what oil pressure and why
hydraulic pressure which locks the suspension

And also what's that thing a littler lower and to the right of number 14?
The horn

on 4: what does it do? Do I turn it or it's measuring something automatically?

6 and 7: I'm guessing these are inductive sensors, since they have only 1 wire each. Hall effect would require 2 wires and ground

on 12: you don't know or don't understand my question?

My last question is: we know the output to the speaker for the beep beep engage - disengage but I don't see anywhere the output to the yellow light (that flashes to indicate tilt lock possible). Could that be item 12 or it is included inside item 17 and controlled via the 4 wires coming from item 18 using a data protocol? If so, is that a CAN protocol or do we know what each of the 4 wires are for?

The position of the geared motor.

Look again, they have two wires.

It gets power from that circuit. See the complete wiring diagram: https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Piaggio/Piaggio%20MP3/MP3%20500/Fuoco_Wiring_Diagram.pdf

It's not CANBUS. I've never bothered to find out how the LEDs are wired. Almost certainly across those wires to the switch somehow.
