When I heard there was a Vespa coming on the market that has a bigger engine I was intrigued that I may upgrade from my 300……but when I saw it was 310 I was sad……what's the point of only 10cc more? I was hoping for 400. I will never switch brands because I am a vesparsdo to my core - but once in a while when I top off at 75-80 and feel that little jolt of topping out - I wish I had a bit more in there

Your GTS "300" is really only 278cc, so you're actually picking up 32cc of displacement. Top speed is reportedly similar, but the longer stroke of the 310 means it will have more bottom-end grunt than your current machine.
Try getting a test ride from a nearby dealer or look for a demo day so you can determine for yourself if the juice is worth the squeeze.

"The liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a displacement of 310 cm³ (+11.5%*) with electronic fuel injection delivers 18.4 kW / 25 hp (+5.1%*), which is already available at 6500 rpm (-21.2%*). The impressive torque of 28.9 Nm (+11.15%*) at 5250 rpm ensures a quick start and dynamic acceleration. In the Vespa GTS 310, the 310cc High Performance Engine lives up to its name. (* = Compared to the previous Vespa GTS 300 HPE Engine with 278cm³)"

I'll have to test. Any kinks? My 2022 GTS now has 14,000 miles on it BUT the first 5000 were filled with fuel pump woes

Because I was asked in a PM about the maximum speed:
GTS 300 = 123km/h GTS 310 = 127km/h (according to official European papers). Speedlimiter in ECU (without displayed speedo advance) for both 134km/h, which is about 139/140 km/h indicated on the speedometer. |

I bet the speed has kept down on purpose, so there is no that "oh, that kind of speed with this old tech?!" -and I guess they rise that speed some by year...

Wasn't the rationale for the 310 driven by the need to lower emissions? As GTS rider has shown above, modest increases in torque achieved with approximately 1000 rpm less. Saving the planet one mile at a time

Do you think the traditional VESPA GTS will ever have a 400cc model? I know piaggio makes a BV400 but I prefer the older design like GTS

I bet they could, but with that engine size you're getting into maxi scooter territory and a larger frame, larger wheels and more comfortable design would make more sense. But then it starts to move away from that classic Vespa silhouette that we all want.

GermanGTSDriver wrote: No. Euro 5 (GTS 300) to Euro 5+ (GTS 310) does not require a reduction in emissions. The difference is reduced noise levels and a second lambda sensor (after catalytic converter), which make manupulations on the exhaust system (comparison before and after catalytic converter) recognizable. |

I think I would love a 400cc Vespa bigger wheels bigger body (same style and dimensions) and a manual trans with clutch.

I think when the time comes to replace my 2007 GTS, I'll be jumping all model years in between to at least the new 310.
That will be a few years away and hopefully allow time for any issues with the new motor to be identified (oil burning?) |
