I dislike black coffee because I think it tastes like dirt! B2
Well, Jesse, you already know how I like my coffee. Mostly espresso with steamed milk, resembling a flat white. I will occasionally just have an espresso with a dash of milk (macchiato or pingo in PT), but I will usually add a tiny bit of sugar to that. Otherwise no sugar.
Even with milk, I dislike french press, drip, filter, cold-pour etc.
So back to bitterness. Is it bitterness I dislike? No, I don't think so, although the milk balances that, as does the sugar in the espresso. I like IPA and the bitterness in that.
I think perhaps, it has a lot to do with mouth-feel. Black coffee just feels thin, whereas coffee with milk feels like a luxury. Having said that, I would NEVER put any sort of cream in my coffee; that just seems disgusting!
I prefer making coffee with my Breville oracle with its double-boiler and auto milk steaming, but at a push, Nespresso plus a bit of microwaved milk is what I will use if I am in a holiday let for example. Most holiday apartments will have a Nespresso machine here in Europe.
