Deb and I just returned from 3 weeks in Europe (The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Hungary). What a great trip! Visiting my mother's homeland (Germany) cheered me up. 😃

I probably took 1000 photos. Here is just a tiny sample.

Agreed. My surgeries were spread apart -2010, 2014 and 2024. The first two happened when I was still working, the last after I was in my second year of retirement. I was ordered to stay off bikes for a full year for fusion to occur safety. I started a daily PT regiment 4 weeks post surgery. I added in walking at least an hour up and down the hills where I live. To put it bluntly - I have no choice - it's do this for the rest of my life or wind up back in a wheelchair.

Well strictly speaking it *was* an A10.

Checked out a cheesy ghost town museum, next up gonna ride thru Garden of the Gods.

I have a special place in my heart for things built in a bygone age that still kick ass!

I grew up near Davis-Monthan in Tucson, and the A-10s flying around are part of the fabric of my early memories. (Was always bummed that the Rattler was Cobra; led to some complicated head canon.)

This is the last Friday I have to be at work until 31 July.

We're in Summer Hours starting next week, and we're working four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday. Because our work week is Friday through Thursday, today is the first day of the work week that ends on Thursday. So next week I work 8-hour days, and get Friday off.

I had to read it three times, but I get it now. Cool stuff.

Yeah, when I first started working here it confused me a lot.

It could be worse, another district in the area has their work week run Thursday through Wednesday. But they either take summers off, or only work 2-3 days a week. My boss wants us to either take the summer off, or work part-time (and adjust our pay so that we still earn the same amount per year), but the administration won't approve it.

Little White has been sat neglected under a tarp for 18 months, thought I'd check it out this morning and see if battery needed charging, but no, it started first crank after a couple of coughs! 😎

The Custer Park 'begging donkeys' were working the tourists with much enthusiasm this afternoon, luckily, I stopped at a grocery store and bought a bag of whole fresh carrots for them before entering the park, which made us quite popular.

As noted yesterday, two screws missing from my BV airbox mount. Decided that I'd give the local hardware store a shot as shipping from a parts dealer far exceeds the cost. As most of us know here in the U.S. things are sketchy with metric, but they do have a selection. Not only do they have what I was looking for, I pretty much walked up to the selection, found what I needed and done!

It's not uncommon to get a shoulder shrug from an employee, or decide that something "will have to do for now." So count me thrilled.

I'm fortunate enough to have two local hardware stores that are privately owned nearby, one actually within walking distance. I need one metric bolt? Cut to a particular length? They'll show me where they are and cut it down if I need it. They may charge me a buck for the one bolt, but I don't have to wait for a delivery, pay shipping, and if it doesn't work they'll find me one that will.

Those places seem to be few and far between.

So true! Big box = little knowledge or help.

Several years ago I needed a few lock washers. I went to a big box store. They had them. A package of just shy of what I needed ... I think it was six. And a bag of 200 for not much more money.

I haven't needed lock washers in a very long time.

We stopped at Costco the other day and they had these.

We lost two hardware stores in the past year. I'm guilty of neglecting them too.

Lately, the small stores haven't been much better that the big boxes. The knowledgeable old hardware guys have finally retired.
