A local pub thats been vacated for a while has just been taken over by an energetic young couple who have transformed the place, great beers, traditional strong ciders, BBQ and a great vibe in the place.

Good to see when so many pubs are closing in this country.

Today I took a fairly long ride, and it was warm and sunny and a great day for a ride.

The bike handles much better with the new rear tire. The original tire still had a lot of tread, but was worn kind of flat from side to side. Worse still, it had a high spot that I could feel on smooth roads. I must have damaged it sometime by hitting a pothole - some of the country roads around here have such surprises just waiting to snag the unwary. So, not willing to take any chances with a probably damaged tire, I replaced it. Total cost, tire, mounting, and balancing was about $150.

Anyway, I really enjoyed today's ride, along with peace of mind knowing I'm riding on good tires. I've always been fussy with my tires, be they on car or bike.

And this all cheered me up a lot!

Getting a twelve pack of Bold City IPA under the seat of Rocket today.

Currently my favorite IPA, from a brewer two miles from home.

Good price, $12.00, when bought at the brewery.

Sometimes too much or not enough air pressure will give you uneven wear . Enjoy the new tire and check the air regularly

I love how that fits in there! There's room for more loose ones if needed. Reminds me of the time I rode my KZ1000 to an AM PM Minimart with a friend on the back. I was 18 and finagled someone to buy a twelve pack for us. We sandwiched it between us and took off. I don't think we even wore helmets. The ladies thought we were cool back at the house party. Crazy times!

That is seriously impressive carrying capacity.

Lots of changes at work going on, all positive.

Two of the four new production color printers arrived yesterday and are almost ready for use. The other two are scheduled to arrive next Monday.

The new envelope printer also arrived yesterday, and the techs are installing it as I type this.

The new Duplo bookletmaker is scheduled to arrive this Friday, and will be installed next week.

My desk moved from the corner of the print production room into the corner of the bindery office with the bindery supervisor and three bindery guys. It's in the corner next to the window that looks out at the large format UV printers, so that I can simply look over to see if they need attention.

The new position that my boss created for me got posted, and I've gone through the application process. Now we're waiting on some approvals and HR to do their thing. Worst case scenario it'll take about a month to complete.

Laughing.

Looking back through a spreadsheet have been growing since 2013, tracking the mileage and maintenance of six different scoots, and looking at some of my entries.

P200E - 04/08/2017 - All my gas fell out. Sticky needle valve.

I learned a lot that day.

Back in the late '80s I was working full time and going to school full time. I had a 40 minute drive to work from 7:00am to 3:30pm, a half hour drive to go to school from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and then nearly an hour drive back home. Five days a week for two years straight. It's all kind of a blur.

In between I busied myself with a few things. One of which was reading. One of the places I frequented was the local Long John Silver's. I ate WAY more food there than a human probably should. But it was the old LJS atmosphere with the old wood and the oil painting prints of three masted schooners.

I read probably everything written by Michael Moorcock, Roger Zelazny, Robert Asprin ... I was into that whole genre.

Anyway, had not eaten at LJS in a very long time. Last week I had a sudden craving for LJS. I was at work, so to save time I decided to order online.

So, they have a two fish basket for six bucks. You can do a lot worse, so I placed my order and verified with Apple Pay. Error. Well, crap ... I'm pretty sure that didn't go through because I never checked out, so I tried again. Same error. So, now I have errored out on an order twice. I called up my bank app and it shows both transactions as pending, even though I didn't check out.

So, now I HAVE to go to the store anyway. I drove there, made the same order, PAID for it and left, having been told those two pending transactions would just be credited back.

As of this week, ONE of them had. So, I decided to go in and ask about it. I hate confrontations.

I asked the cashier about it and he went back to talk to the manager. I heard him start with, "Remember last week when the website messed up?" The short end of the story was they gave me today's order for free and a free soda.

I know it's not much, but the fact they never batted an eye and treated me like a customer made me feel pretty good.

And the food is as good as I remember it. The fish tastes like fish, the fries taste like fish, the hushpuppies taste like fish and my car smells like fish. Just the way I remember.

What I suspected is true: your GT has more carrying capacity than my Piaggio Liberty - I can only squeeze 2 six-packs under the seat. (Fortunately I've got a nifty soft tailbag for situations that require, something that tends to happen in hot summer weather )

In 2019 I bought the Primavera 400km away, and rode home via a toll road.

I jumped online and paid the toll but for some reason I never got charged for it. The scooter may have been under the previous owners name?

Anyhoo... today I got a refund. What to spend the $2.10 on?

It's my last day of work before I fly out(Monday) to Italy for 23 glorious days.
Rented a Citroen C3 (stick of course) and exploring the "heel" of Apulia. Then meeting my sister in Viturbo in the Umbria region for a couple of days.
Wife and I will be spending most of our time with her cousins in a small town (Sessano de Molise) and just like last year we'll be hitting the local festivals. Good Times

We've been camping in a small teardrop trailer (pretty much a rolling double bed with a tiny kitchen under the rear hatch). My wife had knee surgery last year and has a partial tear of her rotator cuff so getting in/out of the camper has become a pain (literally). We've decided to switch gears on our camping strategy. We're going back to a medium size tent that you can walk into and standup inside. I drove to Bend, OR last Sunday and picked up this handy light weight cargo trailer. It will haul the tent, cooler, camp chairs, etc. so we have room in the car for people and dogo.

Needs new tires, so I pulled those off this morning and will return with new in an hour or so.

We'll be taking our teardrop on one last adventure next week before putting it up for sale. It's been great, but just needs to go to a younger family. 😆

More comfortable camping adventures cheer me up.
The teardrop. Many fun adventures but time to move on.

Following up from yesterday's whinge about having too much stuff, I have a small but definitely cheering-up update.

This bag of socks has left the house.

I cleaned out my sock drawer, got rid of all the socks I used to wear as part of my work "uniform" (and I had like 30 pairs!) as well as all the miscellaneous socks that I never wear anymore.

Now I just need to repeat that 4,895,234 times.

Following up from yesterday's whinge about having too much stuff, I have a small but definitely cheering-up update.
Now I just need to repeat that 4,895,234 times.
Good man. I have been talking to my wife about this. I am currently 10 months into back/spinal surgery recovery and spent most of my time now (slowly) getting the house ready for future sale. It's hard to do improvements when you are constantly moving stuff out of the way. Walking around my mostly empty house, I see all this Stuff that belongs to my 4 children. I have been hinting to all of them that my house is not a storage unit. No more - I am bringing the hammer down, come get your things or it gets donated/throw out.

My neighbor has a fairly mature lemon tree, and it got a pruning today. So she brought over a ginormous bag full of ginormous lemons.

You know what they say... when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Of course, Cave Johnson has other ideas about what to do with lemons.

What I suspected is true: your GT has more carrying capacity than my Piaggio Liberty - I can only squeeze 2 six-packs under the seat. (Fortunately I've got a nifty soft tailbag for situations that require, something that tends to happen in hot summer weather )
i see this as an opportunity to make multiple scooter rides.
