Decided to head over to my older brothers house in St. Paul for some overdue bs and coffee on his front porch, so I put one extra shirt and two spare BVD's in my backpack, tossed a small magnetic tank bag on the Triumph and headed eastward.

Made it a bit around 525 miles before getting a room in Wilmar Minnesota for the night (where I'm posting this from), then, will be heading out shortly for the remaining 150 or so miles into the Twin Cities.

I went 'off course' for around fifty miles yesterday in order to dodge some rain going through the area, so managed to stay dry, a good thing because I didn't bother to bring any rain gear.

I'll get to his house a little after noon, spend a couple hours there, then start back for home in western South Dakota, staying at another hotel in Madison, South Dakota.

This is the first official weekend of the Sturgis Rally, so I will have a LOT of motorcycling company on the return trip amongst the incoming hoard of 'bikers'......and of course, 'trikers' these days.

The Triumph Rocket sucks an impressive amount of 'hi-test' gasoline, so some special attention must be paid to the trip odometer, lest one wants to push a 700 pound motorcycle.

Oh, I DID manage to earn a speeding ticket yesterday, caught going 77 in a 65 zone, but the deputy was nice (as I was), and he took two mph off of it so that I didn't get hammered for being over the limit by more than ten mph, which increases the financial punishment level by a large margin. So, I'll only pay a fine of $117 for my scofflaw behavior....which is the part where I'm 'Cheered up', and can appropriately post this adventure here.

Ok, I'm off to finish my ride to St. Paul, if I encounter more cheeriness during this three day ride, I will post the details later.

Mr. Policeman delivers some roadside justice...

More.

Over the last two days, I have gotten rid of:
- Nintendo Switch (first gen)
- Xiaomi Electric kick scooter
- iPad mini (first gen, ancient)
- iPad Air (first gen, ancient)
- Old LG monitor
- Non-functioning Canon inkjet printer (is there any other kind?)
- Ancient sprinkler controller that came with the house
- Old coffee maker
- AirPort Express (2nd gen, ancient)
- An entire box full of old camera battery chargers (and more than a few batteries)
- One cheap black plastic roller suitcase
- Set of four glass mugs
- One kitchen scale
- Set of four ceramic rice bowls

(And yes, I am keeping track of everything on paper, too)

Spent a few days camping on the west shore of Lake Tahoe this week. The new camping set (traded teardrop trailer for a tent) worked well. The bears stopped by while we were packing up this morning to ask for a handout. Caught us by surprise and tried to climb in my sister's car before we ran him off. 😂

VESP0 is still running like a champ and looks so much better after a wash. Yes the scratches and dent are definitely there but the light grey of my gts is good at minimising the visual.

True, but I regard the separated single cookie wafers as little coco-cracker delights.

Nothing is wasted.

The Universe compensates brilliantly in these matters, and everything automatically re-balances.

Went for a nice ride, the weather was perfect. About mile from my house, I fortunately saw a deer heading for the road and hit my brakes. The deer passed in front of me, and I'm pretty sure we had been on a collision course.

Next, I saw a flock of turkeys with 4 adults and about 7 little ones, eating, I assume, loads of bugs.

On the way home, I saw someone's yard full of rabbits eating whatever they were eating.

Besides a nice ride, I had an extra dose of critters to see. Just one of the bennies of living in the country!

I've yet again been cheered up and surprised by Geography

I have only just learned that Stockholm, the capital of Sweden is made up of 14 seperate islands. Why I wonder it's taken me 55 years to learn this fact I do not know.

Anyway, thanks Bill Bryson for the heads up.

Just saw the reimbursement amount for the move to CO.

This would be JUST the move, completely separate from the claim on the safe.

It's very nice indeed.

Selling off my old point and shoot cameras since they're hot property nowadays. I have a couple of Olympus ones that use XD cards and I don't have a reader… So I've turned the garage upside down looking for the obscure usb 2.0 cables they use so I can get the pictures of the kids off them. Found them tonight but also found this long lost gift from my boss 30 years ago.

We only used to get about half an hour runtime off our dodo. Eventually we just gave it away to a natural history museum.

Ooh, I just love those old HP calculators! I use them at school back In late 80's and early 90's. Actually I still have one of them, model 32S, which I use; but not very often.

If I had to make some calculations, I'd rather use HP than "ordinary" ones, I just loved that reverse polish logic.
