Hey guys!

I have a problem with my 2012 GTV: sometimes when I try to start it up, it doesn't start, it feels like it has no idle at all. Sometimes it starts, but has a very low idle, and stalls at the first red lamp. But if I put it on ignition, then turn the key back to zero, then on ignition again, and repeat this for a couple of times, it starts and runs like nothing happened. Around 70 percent of the time it starts straight away and runs perfectly, so the whole thing is very random.

I took the bike to my Vespa guy, but he has absolutely no idea what could be the cause of this.

Any ideas? Thanks!

First thing I'd do is to ensure the idle bypass passage in the throttle body is nice and clean: https://cheekythoma3.wixsite.com/itsme/idle

Thanks, I got it checked out, and seems like everything is fine with the idle control system. Any other ideas? Thank you in advance!

Please do not turn any screws on the throttle body!. This can cause irreversible problems, and it pre-set at a fixed setting/valve the for the ECU to read. Please read the link to " Cheeky Thomas site" posted by Jim C. .Thomas explains why/how the initial setting of the throttle body butterfly stop screw is not to be tampered with. A plethora of problems can result messing with this. Agree -cleaning the throttle body w/ aerosol " Throttle body cleaner" can fix a lot of idle issues. Simple to do. Be sure to have a clean air filter to install afterwards.
