I think most of us have heard and may be familiar with Art Deco.
Maybe this should be in NSM
As I understand it, Classic Moderne and then Streamline Moderne were follow-ons to Art Deco.
Anyone have something still in use? I am sure there are people more knowledgeable than I am.
That takes us to Streamline Moderne and this Blackhawk SJ-18 jack. JBacklund's post came up as i was working on this.
As I understand it, Streamline Moderne is an international style of Art Deco architecture and design that emerged in the 1930s. Inspired by aerodynamic design, it emphasized curving forms, long horizontal lines, and sometimes nautical elements. In industrial design, it was used in railroad locomotives, telephones, buses, appliances, and other devices to give the impression of sleekness and modernity.
I bought a well used 50s jack by Blackhawk called an SJ-18. Still functioning, I was told it had been rebuilt. Research informed me that there is/are special tools needed to rebuild and of course parts.
Given the above, I decided to make it pretty, a simple cosmetic re-do. I won't use the term restoration.
