My 2008 LX50 won't start. It was working a few days ago but now the starter isn't even turning over. Because I was getting nothing from the starter, I thought it might be a bad brake switch as the brake light isn't turning on too but I think something else is afoot.

I scoured the forum and have tried to trace down the problem but am a bit stumped:

* Battery has good voltage
* Checked the main fuse off the battery
* Took the brake light switches off and verified they are working with a multi-meter (although one's spring is a bit shot; will replace). Wasn't getting voltage to either side of the switch
* Blinkers/horns work fine, but the headlight/taillight/brake lights does not
* The rear/front bulbs look good, no breaks in the filament
* No voltage getting to the rear lights

I looked at the wiring diagram online (at least for the 4V), and it shows a 7.5A fuse on the starter circuit, but I can't find it for the life of me. I didn't see anything near the horn and also took off the glove box and didn't see anything between the ignition switch and the brake switches. It feels like a bad connection/fuse, but can't find anything.

I bought the scooter second hand years ago and it has been running fine, but it does look like the previous owner may have made some electrical repairs (at least there was some electrical tape peeling off the harness).

Any ideas on what to look into next? Really appreciate any guidance.

If the main 10A fuse was OK, and the battery is OK, then the only thing left that could fail is the ignition switch itself - not uncommon! So much so it's worth having a spare.

Thanks for the response!

I'll definitely pick up one of those. If it is a faulty ignition switch, would the turn signals/horn still work when I turn the key?

Not sure if the ignition switch has multiple poles for different systems or something.

Ah. No. Sorry, forget that detail you reported! If the horn works then there's a broken/bad connection to the brake light switches. That's assuming the lx50 4T circuit diagram is the one for your bike, though the same should apply to the 2T.
