Hi all,
I have a question about disk brakes or rotors. For my scooter (now Yamaha Tmax and before MP3 400ie RIP), had a problem in the brake system which did not open the brake pads, and speed up the wearing of the pads, and that ate through the rotors, I put an order with the dealership in May 25 and upon following up late Jun 25, they are still in back order and will be in Sep 25. So I need new rotors, the OEM are more expensive than the original, I am sure it because of greed! (how come OEM is more expensive than the dealership, shouldn't it be the other way round!). Anyway, I saw rotors from MC Motoparts on ebay. The dealership will not give advice on them. Now I am in need of rotors and I will not pay for the greedy people. I want to know from posters here if anyone used them, and what is their veiw on them or any other comments. I understand there will be a difference between MC and Original such as durability, example if original will be good for 5 years, but they will be good for 2-3 years, I am happy with that, but the key point is from performance, I read on the internet that they are not good for track riding, but for general use they are good. I am not using my scooter for track just home - work etc... just regular riding. Please help and as soon as you can, thanks all.

I know that mate, but it does not have many who respond quickly, and my question is a general in nature not specific to T-max. I am in a hurry so need some help.

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer

Thanks for this, I thought it related to other market brands, but still more expensive than the dealership, in most cases, most items are cheaper than the dealership.

I'd buy from them if the price was half the dealer's price. Otherwise get the right ones from the dealer. However, ensure you're fixed your sticky pistons first! The usual problem here isn't the pistons themselves, but corroded locating/retaining pins preventing the pads from moving back.

Hi, the price is not the first factor for deciding, I am looking at MC Motoparts brand which is not OEM, it is other market brand, I read online (product review) and it stated it was not recommended for track but for regular riding it was OK, so I want to confirm from someone if they used MC Motoparts brand or has knowledge about this brand and can give me an idea, I am aware the durability may not be as the original, which is acceptable, but from performance and safety aspect, this is the important thing. thanks for your comment.

As MC Motoparts don't seem to stock anything at all for anything for Piaggio scooters or motorbikes, I doubt anyone here can give a sensible opinion.

Why don't you try them, then give a review on a Tmax forum to help others not wishing to pay the dealer price..

Thanks a lot for your comment. I really don't want to try something that will have performance issues (as brakes - life dependent on it), this is my only concern, as mentioned before, I understand durability issue.
My personal opinion, it is a scar tactic from suppliers, but I think it would do the job (but not for track riding), but there is always the possibility of being wrong, Much appreciated for your comment!

It's a rotor (disc/disk) FFS, it'll be steel, it'll be fine. Brake pads are a different matter of course.
