Wanted something adjustable since the older I get, bending over stuff to work on it isn't always pleasant.

This is just a for the heck of it, hopefully it works kind of thing. Not a fabricator or welder, sooooo, far, far, far from perfect.

Goals: adjustable height stand, multi position, cheap.
Material: whatever is laying around.
Items purchased: friggin bolt for the rear shock mount. Just an M8 from HD since it's just holding the engine in place.

The bad: No real plan, kind of winged it, changed my mind 1000x since yesterday and it shows. Welding, been awhile and it shows. Current layout precludes mounting exhaust.

The good: It works, rough around the edges but not bad for a throw together. Sturdy, I'm 200+ and it held me when I hung off the end.

Uses:
Freestanding. Still need to cut a piece for stability, removable for when mounted to rails. Normal orientation only.
Rail mounted. Normal orientation, clutch side up, flywheel side up. Adjustable height from ground to eye level.

I like that

Both my engine stands are homemade, and pretty obviously so. I like the way you decided that you had a problem existing options didn't fix, so you just went for it and solved it.

Just checking that the ol' eyeball engineering was still within horseshoes and hand grenades spec.

90° rotation bolted up. Maybe not as easy as a fancy stand, but did it solo with engine never having to go to ground. Long run might get some steel discs to make it true rotation instead of slide up/rotate/slide down.

Gonna go have a beer before I break something.
