Guys, can someone please let me know if there's an insurance company who specialise in Trike's ?
I've been quoted £775 so far & I'm having trouble even getting quotes, it would appear that although I can legally ride my MP3 on a full car license, insurance companies don't like it? They're expecting me to have a full bike license!!
I don't understand, I've been driving since 1986, and have ridden lower capacity bikes with two wheels for several years, this doesn't seem to make any difference, I understand bikes are a different kettle of fish, so why allow this in the first place, doesn't make sense to me!?

It depends on the mp3 and to a lesser degree your car license.

The early narrow track mp3 has always required a full motorcycle license. The later LT type mp3 can be ridden on a car license but only if you obtained said car license before 2013

Lexham, Bennetts and Carole Nash, among others, should be able to insure you on an LT.

Note - your car insurance no-claims bonus is irrelevant. You'll be charged as new business, and it *will* be expensive.

Thanks for your information, much appreciated, I passed my driving test in 1986, so yes, as suggested, I should be able to ride on my full car license, I've got a Yourban which I believe is the correct type.
I do understand also that my no claims for the car doesn't transfer, however I thought maybe it'd be cheaper than I've been quoted

Its not just the MP3,s it is basically anything with 2 wheels or 3 in the UK due to thefts, insurance is getting harder to get everywhere unless you know your insurer well, and even then it is not easy, loads of mates in UK struggle every year to get a new quote.

Food for thought, I hadn't got a clue things were that bad in the bike world, considering how popular it is 🤔 it's such a shame! 😞
