Probably is France, given the signage, but it just looks like rural Croatia to me. I used to travel between Split and Sinj a lot, and there were stretches that looked like that. There should be mountains, now that I think of it...

The location was Big Basin Redwoods State Park, which is still recovering from the wildfire that swept through in 2020. We stopped there to stretch our legs during Classico Moto Italia in May.

Trip, and photo is from 1985. Were were somewhere in France as travelling from Finland to Paris, and I recall we were at Gologne, and this was after arrived to France. No idea what was the place, but googling gives mass of same looking willages/towns. It could easily be that this building is no more, or just in different use and this "parking" could be filled with another building. I used 2 nights on this mystery of mine without any luck.

Hah. I've been doing the same. I even had a chat with ChatGPT (o4-mini) about it, and it suggested that the photo is likely from either Grand Est, Centre-Val de Loire, or Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

fleece, the windows suggest anglosphere. The chimneys make me think it's in Europe, not in America. Channel Islands perhaps. (Never been there.)

I think I can just about see yellow number plates so together with the chimney and bricks the UK is favourite.
