I've got my 2005 PX150E all torn down and just realized the new crank I got is Splined on the clutch side!

I ordered a VMC Chrono 187cc kit from SIP,
https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/racing-cylinder-vmc-crono-187-cc-for-vespa-125-gtr-2-ts-150-sprint-2-v-super-2-px125-150-pe-lusso-cosa_84140500
Since I had been looking at long stroke cranks anyway, I followed one of their recomendations on the page to order the SIP Premium Long Stroke crank
https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/long-stroke-crankshaft-sip-premium-for-vespa-125-gtr-2-ts-2-150-sprint-v-2-super-2-p125-150x-px125-150-e-lusso-my-cosa_45021530

At the time I guess being splined didn't ring a bell, I thought it would be compatible. Soooo, any reccomendations on a good Long Stroke 60mm crank for this VMC Chrono head?

I don't want to try and make the splined crank work, as it would also lose the keyed gear for Autolube.

Also, my original crank has a side hole in the clutch side flywheel. The SIP crank has no hole. What is the principal with that?

Returns are gonna be a pain, so I'd list it on FB marketplace, the for sale section here or scootnet2.net. Try to recoup some of your losses and re-order the correct crankshaft. Find the non splined version of the same crank.

I already have a new Cosa 2 keyed clutch, and want to use it so I can put the oiler gear back on

Plus, doesn't look like any of the splined clutches are sized for a 68T primary.
My stock was 20/68 and I'm going up to a 22T on the clutch.

If you buy a VMC splined clutch, then you can put the primary gear of your choice. If you already have a Cosa 2 primary gear, then you're set.

I have this exact setup on my race scooter. The Crono 187 with the splined crank. I'd just buy a toothed cog. They make them for a bunch of sizes. It's such a better set up than dealing with woodruf key. The clutch just slides on and off. No stress about the key falling into the motor. But if you really want to sell that crank I might be interested in buying it. Assuming it's shipping out of the us.

Is there a way to make this Autolube compatible?

You have the very best of cranks currently on the market. Get a splined clutch and call it a day. Pinasco cranks can't even reach the quality of SIP (Primatist) cranks…

My brother runs a machine shop and believes he can grind/mill out the Autolube gear from 15mm to 20mm to fit onto the splined crank. IF that works, I'll put a spot of weld bead on the gear to lock it to a mating recess milled into the clutch base plate or maybe better, into the crank splines.

So, the next question becomes: If I go with this VMC clutch that Rikko linked,
https://www.ebay.de/itm/396709274776
what kind of insert do I use to get the 22T clutch gear? I don't see anything by VMC. Looks like what I need is a Cosa 2 Clutch Gear Cog, is this DRT part compatible?
https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/clutch-gear-cog-23-teeth-drt-for-clutch-cosa-2-for-drt-primary-z-65-z-67-z-68-for-vespa-125-vna-ts-150-vba-super-180-200-rally-px80-200-pe-lusso-cosa-t5_87475000?usrc=Clutch%20gear%20cog%2023%20teeth%20drt

Does not look like 22T is an option (to mate with my existing 68T primary), but 23T would probably be fine and maybe better.

SIP appears to have that VMC splined clutch in either Steel or Aluminum basket version.

Though it may appear that SIP sell both an aluminum and steel version of the VMC clutch, no matter which one you order they will ship you the steel version…at least that was my recent experience.

Well, I think I'd be fine with steel anyway.

Did a bit lf learning tonight, disassembled my original 20T clutch and the new SIP Cosa 2 23T clutch. Found out they contain the same Clutch Gear Cog I was looking at earlier, and they are interchangeable. So I should be able to order just the VMC splined clutch and use the 22T clutch gear cog I have.

When I researched it, information from one Italian seller is that a standard Cosa 2 cog will fit. But I haven't tried it (yet!), so I can't attest to it.

Re. 23/68 combo, I personally haven't found any online resource to support this, other than mentions on NSM. I would be concerned about teeth pressing hard against each other, causing power loss and overheating the drive in the process.

You woild need a DRT made 23 tooth item or similar to make this happen... standard Vespa 23 tooth will not serve your purpose. DRT are specially machined to allow proper fitment

That's the same one I had linked above😊

I'll use the 22T I have for now, but nice to have an option for taller gearing.

Gonna go with this clutch, it includes the pressure plate/bearing and is about $100 less shipped
https://ebay.us/m/eldPYa

It is aluminum, which should be fine for the moderate ~20hp I'm hoping for.

Just make sure it's the splined version cause most of the pics show the keyed version. It should say 'Calettata' for the splined version...

Most that I found on eBay include the pressure plate (with bearing), shim, and a nut (yet to see it in eBay photos). I ordered the Ergal (Al-alloy) kit, keyed mount, with 4+4 plates, Seeger ring, two sets of springs. Total at 195€ + 10€ for shipping.

Well the one you linked is showing €257.45 + €150 shipping = €407.45 = $473.59!! Maybe you live a lot closer, we're screwed right now in USA😖

The one I linked is a splined version, which is more expensive than what I've ordered (keyed), but damn that shipping cost... 🤦🏻‍♂️

Allegedly Italy, but we suspect that's hardly true.

I've read somewhere that EU law stipulates that if you make one last significant change (in a member country) on a product regardless of its true origin, like for an example adding an aesthetic detail, you're allowed to label the product with "made in whatever" or in this case Italy.

You've got a splined version. I ordered a keyed Aluminium basket kit, then regretted it. Should have gone for a splined version too. But that's ok, bushings go for about 70€ separately, so when I get a splined SIP shaft, I'll order that.

Got the new splined clutch a few days ago, very nice! Came with the cool throwout bearing.

I'm starting a thread where I know I'll have many questions as I build this PX150E with Crono & Long stroke crank.

My machinist brother struck out on the Autolube gear as it is too hard for traditional cutting. I have found a local shop that will EDM it out to 20mm for $125.

Trying to keep Autolube. Yes, the crank did come with a spacer, hopefully won't need it!
