Hi everyone,

I've ordered the RMS kit to do a water pump swap on my BV250ie. After watching several videos and gathering the necessary tools, I'm confident I can take on the job myself. It'll take me a bit more time, but I plan to do it carefully and make sure everything is installed properly.

My only concern is with installing the water pump mechanical seal. From what I've seen, it looks like the seal needs to be pressed in using even pressure on both the outer diameter and the inner surface (without damaging the ceramic part).

I'd like to make my own installation tool, but I need the exact dimensions:

-Outer ring diameter (what fits the seal outer edge)

-Inner clearance or depth (to avoid pressing on the ceramic)

-Any lip or shoulder measurements if needed for alignment

If anyone has the measurements for the correct installation tool or has made one themselves, I'd really appreciate the specs or any tips.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!
Only for reference* (is not correct tool i guess)

Seriously, consider replacing the whole caboodle.

Yes, it costs more, but there's no danger of damaging the seal while trying to insert it - even shops with the special tool have been known to slip up here, and they tend to replace the whole thing instead as more cost effective.

By the time you've found a method of doing that seal insertion cleanly yourself, you may well have spent more than the cost of the whole thing anyway.

I used sockets before I made this tool.
