I was going to suggest that but realised it goes against rule 2, both wheels face the same way as per factory.

Yes, thanks for asking. There is some progress, but just on parts acquisition front. The clone PWK arrived, along with full kit of jets, needles and turbulators. Also the sponge filter and singlefold (manifold) for some Piaggio scooter, but of the correct diameter so I'll bodge it in.

Unfortunately, on my way to UK for work, so I'll remain parts acquisitioner (storekeeper) a.k.a. keyboard warrior, for the two months ahead.

Any reliable, well equipped Vespa suppliers in UK? I reckon you and Jack will know...

My bigger orders have mostly been VE their advice and service has been sound, Buzz is great for sourcing hard to find parts like MotoVespa specific parts, Ron seems to have lots of new old stock, I've got loads of vespajets stickers so I must have bought from them a lot.

I use all of the above.

And Beedspeed, takes a bashing but if the part is in stock, they deliver quick.
The new website doesn't let you order 'out of stock' parts, so that's good.

Have you googled beedspeed? By the looks of it, they shouldnt be trading.

And with them being a local shop to me since I moved, we popped in the other day to see if they had some bits I needed. For the amount of security cameras they have up, it was surprising that no one came to the counter in the 20 mins that we were there for. Almost as though they were hiding from what they thought were disgruntled customers.

I do like the shade of that blue back of the scanner. Not true to the name, given that it's not very shiny, but gives me ideas. It could go on the Frankendrak, just shinier.

Sorry, can't help it, I'm shiny/chuffed, I've been wanting a 3d scanner for 4-5 years now. 😁😁😁

After a brief two-month hiatus, also known as work/life, the project is back in motion. Though, in desire only, for now. Not so many things were achieved past two months unfortunately. Contrary to the plan, the only progress has been a heroic purchase of EBC brake pads and shoes. That's it.

No medals to be won over it, for sure.
But, in an effort to push things along, I'm now awaiting a long-overdue SIP order containing a bit over 50 individually useless items, individually pocket change one would argue. Nevertheless, somehow adding up to the GDP of a small village.

With any luck, I'll soon be knee deep in gaskets, clips, and bolts that look identical until they absolutely aren't. All in the effort of resolving at least some of the issues which make my scoot wanna go nowhere.

So, stay tuned dear reader, progress is incoming. Allegedly.

So the strangest thing happened this morning. As I was scavenging the dark depths of my mind, trying to figure out a way to make photos of brake pads seem interesting a bit more than a Windows Paint colour swatch, my partner in life made my day. Also made this post a lot easier to do. 😁

Apparently, and I have completely misplaced this from memory, I had ordered some bits just before I left for work, two months prior. She was kind enough to receive the parcel for me, and store in my study. Right after she asked how much did it cost. 😂 Luckily, this order was less costly. 😂

Lo and behold, bits for my scooter which will help with making it more reliable, borderline useful. And this is not what I just wrote about, yesterday.

There were also some not so flashy bits delivered. Such as aluminium centre stand caps, steering column bearing kit and... something so non-interesting that I have forgotten what it is. 😂

Forgot to mention the prices:

Prices above are with shipping combined. Totalling around 44€. Seller promised to combine shipping, and he did on paper (14€). I was never refunded the difference though.

I'll survive the loss of 30€, but seller set me back by shipping the wrong make headlight. Due to this, I can't use it legally, so I'm gonna have to buy another one.

If you're buying bits on eBay, don't buy from seller Moto Ricambi Europa: https://ebay.us/m/WxGlEv
Or don't order what you can't check immediately. 😁

Moving on to more bits. The SIP order is in! I made sure to pay for Primo service, meaning for the following 12 months my orders from SIP are processed within 24hrs during the working week, and are shipped free. Of course, it's useless unless you order to Germany or Austria. I use a freight forwarder in Germany, so totally worth the spend.

So this order was a bit pricey, considering the contents (600€). Not gonna bother you all with every o-ring, nut and bolt contained within, I'll just mention a few interesting bits.

Edit:
Costs:
Most excited about this one, the rear 5x86 conversion kit. Contains the hub, steel brake drum and hardware to put it together. Should go nicely along with EBC shoes.

And some needed bits to further reduce the list of my scoot's no-go qualities. Curious to find out how fast fuel flowing is that SIP fast flow fuel tap. 😁

I think I've stated before that one of the mods in this build will be a GS body conversion. Exactly the one pictured. Admittedly, I have zero clues about what will it take. Has anyone done it, better yet, document it on NSM?

That particular kit is just swapping part for part.

One thing I do think is missing though, is the toolbox. A late.series PX or LML, to me at least, doesn't match the aesthetic

Not here to my knowledge, but I have seen a few. They look almost right but the horncast is definitely wrong in the way it sticks up higher than the surrounding legshield. Much too obvious.

The guy that's absolutely nailed it is Jurgen (Posch Performance). I watched this video a number of times before realising that he uses the conversion kit on a PX frame. There is just so many fascinating ideas going on in this... I'm sure you'll agree.

The translation is not bad, not perfect but not bad.

I like the GS kit and have considered using one on my Stella. But I actually prefer the look of the VBB cowls. I did a quick fit up and they look pretty close except the latches would have to be modified. I also think the VBB horncast would look good but some creative welding would need to done first to make the indentation in the legshield flush. I'm totally going to rebadge it and pass it off as something it's not.

Re. the Posch video, someone had pointed it out in another thread, I've seen it before. Auto translate does give extra depth to it, I must admit, which I haven't experienced the first time 'round.

How foolish is to try to locate an original GS toolbox? Even if it doesn't fit straight on the PX frame.

Not foolish at all.. plenty of repro ones available.

For GS160 and Rally etc. Its not too difficult to trim it to fit a P range

Cheers Ebeth 👍🏻

How much did you cut the swingarm to fit a, if I understood correctly, 140 rear tire?

MUDGUARD - Made in metal. Remove your old mudguard, adjust fork mountings, fit our lowered sports shock (see below) then fit the GS Mudguard. Please note adjustment to your fork is required to fit the mudguard. We offer a fork modification service.

HORNCAST - 3 designs, made in high quality ABS. Remove your old horncast, remove horn and fit to horncast, remove buzzer (LML only), compact wiring, attach horn wires and fit Horncast using existing screws.

FRONT INDICATORS - Made in high quality ABS. They follow the contours of the legshield. Remove old indicators. Fit our retro indicator which cover the hole left and colour coded to your scooter. Connect wires to existing connections in glove box.

REAR BUMBER - Simple design visually lowering the rear of the scooter, made in high quality ABS. Remove your old bumper and fit the retro bumper using existing nuts/bolts.

REAR INDICATOR MODULE - Design taken from the early douglas vespas which incorporated a reflector above the number plate. These super low profile with matching lucus lenses to the front indicators. Made in ABS, can be colour coded to scooter or painted black.
Secure using the holes left by the number plate holder. Remove petrol tank ( not required for LML 4stroke, access can be gained behind LH panel ) wires are then passed through other existing holes above and connected to panel connectors under the petrol tank. Refit petrol tank.

REAR LIGHT - Retro designs, made in ABS Chrome or also in polished aluminium. We favour the SS180 design when fitted looks fantastic. You can fit using the existing holes, alternatively for improved look mount 35mm lower. PANELS - Original design, made in metal. Simply remove your old panel, remove original rubber and fit this to the retro panel and re-attach to your scooter.

HEADSET TOP - Made in high quality ABS. The smooth design echos that of the GS, with small simple speedometer and retains its disc brake if fitted.

SPEEDOMETER - Vintage mph speedometer, chrome rim and ivory face. Offering 80mph top Speed. Available round to fit retro headset top or oval for SS180 and Rally200 headsets

FRONT SUSPENSION KIT - Available in YSS sports or standard type. These lower the scooter, moving the wheel deeper into the mudguard. Supplied with spacer fitting kit. Please note your fork will require adjustment to fit our retro mudguards, please use our fork modification service.

GLOVEBOX - Original design, made in metal. Replace your existing glovebox and fit using same holes. Two additional holes are required to secure lower fixings. Our retro front indicator set is required as the glove box is narrower.

TRIM - To add the finishing touch, change your plastic floor runner end caps and centre mat to our vintage style. Vintage Vespa badge sets are also available.

AGE DATED NUMBERPLATE - Yes we can apply an original age dated numberplate replacing your new type, which works in the same way as a private (cherished plate), once fitted most people will see the old number plate and think its an original scooter !
