Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been on modern Vespa good to be back! But I am definitely here for a reason. I am a motorcycle and Scooter fanatic. I've owned well over 200 bikes. I bought eight last year. I sold six anyway you get the point I love motorcycles and scooters! So the reason I'm on this site as I've always been searching for the Ultimate flat floor Scooter. I just sold the 2023 Kimco people and they 2005 Vespa 150.

So what I'm looking for and I don't like to buy brand new I'm looking for What years the Vespa 250/300 GTV bikes were the best?

Now I know that is subjective as far as what makes them the best or not. I most definitely would not buy a bike that's beat up looking especially this bike. What I'm looking for is the best bike for the money and if there were any years to try to avoid.

This bike will never be used for touring. It will never be used for anything other than having fun on! So I want a flat floor bike that I'll run around town on do some shopping on and can still go on the interstate if I need to.

So with that being said what do you think would be a great year to buy and why? Someone said on ADV that the G TV did not have a gas gauge is that correct? Stuff like that would be nice to know as to what year they did what.

Thanks in advance for any help you might have Tom

Who told you brand new is the best year? I'd get the last year before ABS. You really can't go wrong with any of the earlier years as long as it has been well cared for.

Thanks for the response. What year did they start with the ABS and what year did fuel injection start? Nobody told me not to buy the newest, but I typically don't let somebody else take the depreciation.

2014 last year before ABS. HPE is fine if you don't mind a belt, valve check and rear tire every oil change. No year of GTV is a true flat floorboard. You'd have to get a Yamaha Smax or Buddy 125 for that.

I've got a 2010 GTS. No ABS, no ASR, no funky stuff. Done 45,000 miles, all hard ridden. With Dr Pulley sliders and an extra 1mm washer between the variator halves it goes like a rocket around town, and is exemplary out in the twisties. Almost too much get-up-and-go! In some ways I prefer the 2003 GT200 I have in the UK - I fling it about to its limit - not quite reaching my limit, which is probably wise considering my years.

Thanks for your help the newbie's thread answered some questions . I don't mind the HPE extra maintenance since this bike will only get light usage. Not having a truly flat floor is fine with me also since it will have a flatter floor than anything in my bike room now . What year did they come out with the LED lights? I would also want to step up the bikes quickness with Dr Pulley rollers and maybe a variator . So if it is at 6 k that's a great reason to put it on the bike work bench and make a fun bike an even funner runner !

That's a great looking bike. It was posted 11 weeks ago. Scooter prices have tanked recently. Tell him your credit union will only loan $4,400 on the scooter, and see if he bites.

I just bought a brand new 2024 GTV! Dealer gave me $1k off since it was last years model, so you might find a good deal like that on a '24! I absolutely love it so far!! Only about 200 miles on it though.

What did that come out to OTD ?

Is there any other difference between the 23 and this 20 ?

My first ever Vespa was a new GTV250...lovely ivory color with factory brown genuine leather seat, dual chrome luggage racks, chrome wheels....very premium artful scoot.

My current scoot is a 2024 GTV300 in beige with the matching rear seat cowl......

Both lovely, reliable, "farro boss" styling...urge you to buy only a model year which came with ABS....2024-2025 have new dashboard with digital interface....big improvement over previous tech....clock even works !

Happy hunting

I've attached two pics of my scoots discussed above, and also a very rare white/blue limited edition, which I personally would snap up if you can find one

Be aware, this seller usually posts bikes that have Rebuilt Titles. But it's usually disclosed up-front in the listing but doesn't says so here. When I think about it, I don't recall ever seeing a listing from this seller that was not Rebuilt. I think it's what they specialize in.

With my trade in of $5500, it came to $3700ish, and that included all fees and taxes and tag transfer.

Here in the Netherlands they have reduced the price of the 24 year model from €8200 to €5949 this week, which is a big discount. I think I'll go and have a look at a dealer this week

To be fair, they always lay it out in the description, so perhaps this one is not a rebuilt title. Can try contacting them. I believe they have a pretty decent reviews.

Thanks I am planning to at this point I am looking at 18 and up and the LED lights on the 2024 and up are of interest so I'll look at some new ones around me . I believe that the nyc bike is worth 5 k if it wasn't a rebuild bike it look really nice . I like the race seat and the back box is classy looking .

Same engine just bigger piston? That would not be a reason to buy the new one . Let's face it this is a scooter and will never be a Hayabusa I own a Fat Ninja aka Concours it is really fast . But it is a really iconic looking quick off the line bike that a few cc more will not mean much to me . Plus the first year or two of a new motor is not a smart buy .

There are quite a few nice 2016 bikes out there so they have the old style engine, anti lock brakes , and a lot lower price tag !
