My 2024 Vespa Primavera 150 is making clicking sound from the rear. It only happens when it is warmed up. It wont make the sound completely cold. It is barely audible when the scoot is running at very slow speed below 5-6mph. You can clearly hear it when you roll it forward and back with the engine off. Here is a video of the sound. If you might know or have experience with it please help me identify what it is. Do I need to rush it to the dealer to have them look at it?I have tried to search here and I have read several posts to see if I can find something related. I did not find what I was looking for.

This popping/snapping noise sounds to me exactly like a failing rear wheel bearing on the right side of the axle, in the swingarm. I had this same problem on my 08 Scarabeo 500ie in 2021, but at 18k miles, and the scooter had been an "outdoor cat" for its first 8 years - so bearing replacement wasn't outside of the realm of possibility.

I wouldn't expect this problem on a '23...but here you are. This is probably a medium- to medium-plus-level DIY repair that requires several hours and acquisition of a tool or two including a blind bearing puller, that will all cost less than an hour of shop labor time. And you'll need a vise and a set of sockets to press in the new bearing, though there are other ways too. PM me privately for the curse words I developed specially for this job, those are free, but they're from the Annoying section of the Library of Obscenity, not the Despondent section, as I'd never done a job like this before.

I don't know for sure what part goes into your scooter but Piaggo seems to use the same bearing in many of its machines - from my 460cc scooter down to my S150 (note, the generation before your "Primavera S 150). So perhaps your part is the same as mine: 17x47x14, code 6303-2RS, Piaggio 82545R (equivalent to Piaggio 826974, 432305). I used a relatively high-end Timken third-party replacement and it was $20, and I see that the SKF brand is on Amazon for $13. Piaggio seems to want $35-40 for one from their system, and I'm sure it's no better than a Timken.

It's probably a $500 pro job, but that's a complete guess on my part. Post-DIY I was happy to have the leftover tool, experience and imagined $400, but others may feel otherwise. The new bearing has 13k miles on it without issue.

Now...why did your bearing fail so quickly? Is there a factory casting or assembly issue with the wheel that caused it to bind? These are the questions I wonder after reading these other links.

It appears to be in time with the spokes of the rim - though that may just be a huge coincidence. Look up underneath and see if there's a screw, possibly from the air filter, poking out too far. Or from the other side, a screw or part of the 'hidden' mudguard fouling the spokes.

Doesn't sound to me like a bearing or something internal to the final drive.

Its definitely not anything rubbing on the wheel from the out side this is an internal noise and sounds just like the video linked by RadoR6. It is still under warranty the scooter only has about 900 miles this is my wife's scooter. Always garage kept. I have another 2024 which is the one i ride with 1900 miles and have not had any problems. I will take it to the dealer at the end of the week once my new tow vehicle gets here. I will keep you updated what they say.

If it's not something interfering with the spokes (or something else on the wheel) then why has the only working (for a while) solution found so far has been to replace the rim? I also think that that's extreme - all the few videos I've seen of this show the clacking noise in time with the spokes as the wheel is turned *with someone sitting on it*. So there's definitely mechanical interference somewhere.

Great if it's still under warranty.

Here's my Scarabeo bearing noise. I annotated in red text when the bearing made noise - it can be hard to discern in a recording, especially when the engine is running.

The popping was quite distinctive, but it was definitely random and not spoke-induced. Do you hear the similarity to your sound, or am I hallucinating?
