Ok friends, is that normal for a GTS to smell hot on the first ride. It was a warm day today but I don't know what to expect it's my first ride on gts and the bike is new, 6 miles. Any suggestions 🤔? I rode for about 15 minutes and was a bit concerned to do more.

Yes, it's that new exhaust smell. It'll go away after 100 miles or so.

Yep, all new vehicles have a burn-off smell from oils used during assembly, painted parts, mufflers, etc. My 911 although over 10 years now, still has a cosmoline smell after some hard back road driving. Cosmoline was used by some German manufacturers to prevent rust, also used on military vehicles for the same purpose. Too bad Vespa doesnt use cosmoline, it would eliminate the rust issue....

I noticed mine smelled this morning after getting to work! It's only got a little over 200 miles on it ('24 GTV) and it smelled like warm brakes!! I was a little concerned, but they are new, so I'm trying not to let it bother me. hehe

After the smell gradually goes away, you will wish it stayed around longer.

It might not go away, new bikes are Euro5, very lean out of the box, will run hot.

Might want to look into a Malossi Emulator, and what they do. They work. I have one on mine and the motor is much happier. About a 5 mpg hit though.

it's also used to keep...erm....OTHER things from rusting.

i have an old Mosin-Nagant crate that got turned into a coffee table (removed the top, made a frame with simple pine boards, painted it as close a match as i could cause the scanner machine kept putting out some weird brown color even though it's green, and added glass and some LED rope lights around the rim on the inside) and it takes me back to my AK parts kit days in the 2004-2009 time frame.

Galvanizing would be even better. After 3years I've had on my Pajero grey bashplate under the engine resprayed as the rusty spots from the stone chips looked horrible and a couple years later it was the same. Had it sandblasted, galvanized and powder coated. Now after a few years it looks as if it was done last week. Total cost around 50 euros.

When we picked up my wifes Mazda new from the dealer they warned us about smell and slight smoke hazing for the first 100 miles. Aside from paint on the exhaust, the factory sprays certain components to prevent rust and water ingress , this overspray ends up on the headers and burns off.

On your Vespa you may also notice a hot rubber smell , by the belt cover , again this is just the transmission belt bedding into the two pulleys.

Enjoy your new Vespa.

On my 2009 GT300 the "hot smell" was due to low coolant level.

Someone mentioned two strokes ! Anybody remember Blendzall ? Castor power nitro benzene supplement . I ran it in my MX and enduro bikes . I really miss that smell. Almost wanna buy a Vespa PX, just experience that again. Ahhh the smells and memory of my youth !.
