Hi I recently had a Vespa gts 125 stolen on my road. To be totally honest with you I had not locked the bike up properly only using the manufacturer steering lock and a cover. I did not use my Oxford chain lock either and have left the bike uncovered on numerous occasions (very sloppy). I am looking to purchase another bike and most definitely will take all precautions necessary this time.
I do not have a garage and have to leave it on the street right outside my house but can lock it to a lamp post. What are the best locks I can use to keep my bike secure and deter thieves?

If the handlebar lock is not locked, you can easily push the thing around the corner, into a van or into the nearest river. In Germany, the insurance does not cover theft if the steering lock is not locked.

EVERY lock today can be opened in just a few seconds with a cordless angle grinder.

Save the money for a lock and invest it in good insurance! The best protection against theft is good insurance!

Find the 10 nearest scooters and double whatever locks they have. And get a Rottweiler.

LiteLok X1 or X3. VERY angle grinder resistant. A few other of the better U-lock companies make angle grinder resistant locks as well but I really like my LiteLok. U-lock thru the rear wheel and a chain around the lamp post. Chains are very difficult to cut as they like to move around. Get the thickest chain that you can find.

A pragmasis anti-pinch pin through the rear wheel and appropriate chain with squire lock. I think there might be a pic on here somewhere.

2nd GTS 300 stolen in London, think it's time to tap out
