Folks I have a Vespa GTS 300 2023, my key fob is showing no lights and on the display it is showing "key fob out of range" it is also saying this for the back up key. The bike is running fine apart from having to put the fob close to the indicated left side marker. Question is there a specialist battery for the fob? How do I get rid of the message? Do I need to take the scoot to a dealer to fix problem?

Sounds like your key fob battery needs replaced:

Thanks for that, I have replaced the battery twice before, I will do it again to see if it makes a difference and look at the instructions to see if I can recode the fob to get it going again..

If placing the fob by the sensor on left works, then it doesn't need recoding. If you replaced it twice, then you got a set of bad batteries, inserted it upside down, got contamination on the contact area, or maybe damaged it while opening/closing the case .

JPMScoot wrote: it is also saying this for the back up key. If the battery of the Key-FOB is empty, it also only works on the maintenance cover (it is also passive when the battery is empty). If the battery of the Key-FOB is OK, the active radio detection can be activated/deactivated by pressing both buttons (press both buttons until the LED changes color (red/green). |

I have changed the battery again no joy, there are no lights coming on in the key, when I use the back up chip key, it's still showing out of range. The scooter starts up and runs fine apart from the message on the display screen. We use to have a dealer in N Ireland, but we don't have one any more, the nearest one is at least two hours drive or across the Irish Sea, challenging to stay the least.

Do the terminals make contact with the battery and are they clean? The correct type is a 3V button cell CR2032. JPMScoot wrote: when I use the back up chip key, it's still showing out of range. IMPORTANT QUESTION: Does the passive recognition of the large remote control / Key-FOB work? JPMScoot wrote: The scooter starts up and runs fine apart from the message on the display screen. If the Key-FOB is defective, you will unfortunately have to take the master chip and the vehicle to the dealer. A new Key-FOB can only be programmed using the PADS diagnostic tool at the authorized dealer. Has something happened to the key FOB? Rain, washing machine, dropped, etc.?
