Modern Vespa

Hi All
I have brake fluid leaking from near the center stand on my 1996 Vespa Cosa 2 200.
Its probably from the master cylinder which is hidden under the underfloor spoiler. Would anyone have the steps necessary to remove the spoiler?
I dont have a scooter ramp so intend lying the bike on its side(without the panels, liquids drained etc) on a suitable soft surface (air bed)

Do you mean a front windscreen? I'm trying to sort out what you're referring to that you'd need to lay the bike over.

Post some pictures and we'll be better able to assist.

Most likely, you just need to tighten the banjo bolt.

Cosa has hydraulic drum brakes front and rear, and yes you'll need to remove some plastic to get at the master cylinder and there's also a proportioning valve in there. It could be either of them leaking and you may have to undo the brake line at the rear drum to pull it all forward once you've uncovered access. It's been a long time since I had to do this to replace the master cylinder and I don't recall much detail but I do remember that it was a real b1tch.

Hopefully Safis will spot this and can add more. He probably knows Cosas better than anybody else here.

PS Maybe use old upholstery cushions(I love them for this kind of work) or even old mattress, I think an air mattress could be trouble.

Many thanks for your reply. Due to the very awkward access I decided to get a Vespa restore dealer to do the job.
There are very few Cosas in Ireland, but brakes aside its very similar to a Px200 so other maintenance is not a big problem. Spares are becoming scarce however.
