Has anyone attempted to install a floor rack on top of a full rubber floor mat?

I thought of doing this, I have the mat, but no floor rack.

Would get some blue tack ( or similar), place a blob on top of each screw holding the battery cover on.

Get four screws with a point on the end.

Place the screws with the head down into the blue tack.

Put the mat in place, and gently press down in the battery cover area.

Should make four separate marks on the under side of the mat.

Drill a small hole in the mat first, just to check the position etc.

If correct , drill the correct size holes and attach.

Sadly, the Vespa is gone. Current machines: 2013 BMW R1200R, 2026 Royal Enfield 650 Classic (the pretty teal one).

If you don't already have the hump rack, I have one that I removed from my GTS300 before I traded it in last spring. It's free to anyone in the US lower 48 who can use it.
