Hello Vespistas, I'm already with my wife and our Vespa 300 GTS on an epic ride all around the US. Coast to coast and back including both coastlines. Does anyone know if anyone has ever done this (2 on 1 Vespa) before?
Thank you!

I'd suggest that you change your belt each time you reach the coast especially if it's an OEM.

My wife rarely rides with me at home, maybe once a year or so, but she won't let me go to gatherings of the Vespa Club del Mediterraneo without her.

She has ridden pillion on now eight trips to southern Europe for rides with the club.

We tend to ride 1000 to 2000 km on each of them, always fun adventures.

I doubt I will ever get her to ride across the US, but she would gladly ride across Italy.

to test the strength of a marriage you need to do two things:
1. re-paste the wallpaper together
2. bathe your cat together, you and your wife.
these are powerful tests.

It's crazy. But also after four months and almost 14,000mi/more than 22.000km in the US Vespa or Piaggio didn't write us a Thank You (Thank You, no sponsoring) for our great brand marketing. Sad.

I'm confused.

Did Piaggio choose not to support you or weren't they aware of what you were doing and didn't get in touch ?

Sorry, I wrote an email and integrated the brands in every Insta story by Hashtags. No reaction. But I didn't ask for support.

What an epic trip for both of you! I've enjoyed following along on your journey and glad you got to see so much of the US.

As for Piaggio/Vespa corporate acknowledgement, the North American market means very little to them. They won't even acknowledge the annual AmeriVespa rallies. That is an unfortunate reality for us here.

I had a contact at Vespa/Piaggio UK and I drew their attention to some long distance GTS shenanigans and in return I got a tin and a keyring.

I kid you not.

And what does that qualify you for?

I'm allowed to ask that heretical question, by the way...

Seriously, though: I don't understand your expectations. You are two Germans who post first time on an American forum in the middle of their trip (and don't even manage to include a link to their Instagram profile). Unfortunately, I (and probably many others) can't follow you because I don't have an Instagram account.

There's nothing about your Trip on the German forum...

I would have been happy if you had published some background information: planning, Vespa transport, customs, insurance, route, duration, do you want to publish a book about your trip later, or are you planning to give lectures, etc.

And what exactly are your hopes/expectations of Piaggio USA, Piaggio Germany, or Piaggio Italy? Even if you didn't want sponsorship, you could have contacted Piaggio before the trip.

How would Piaggio even find out about your trip? Do you think they read the forum all the time?

I assume that you are doing this trip for yourselves, independently of others (including Piaggio). That's why you shouldn't really care whether others notice and appreciate it...

Despite all the criticism, I envy you a little for the experiences and impressions you will gain on this trip... Have fun!

Hello GermanGTSdriver,
first: You may ask everything. Second: Yes, we have fun anyway.
To post in the middle of our tour in an American forum had just one reason: An American Vespa friend invited me to write here. And you misunderstood: We post our stories from the beginning on Facebook, Instagram and in two dozen Vespa groups on Facebook, in German, American, international groups and in the Pontedera group. Almost always with hashtags #Vespa and #Piaggio. Enough time for the company to find out.
In these stories I wrote a lot background informations. What I am going to do with all that stuff after the trip? I don't know. What I want from Vespa: A public recognition, a certificate for this trip and lifelong free entrance in the Vespa museum. 😉

Grüße, Bernd
