Modern Vespa

I subscribe to the Criterion Channel (best source of good old movies and foreign films) and stumbled across a gem of a court métrage by Jacques Rozier from 1958 called "Blue Jeans". The stars are two young French guys in, you guessed it, blue jeans, cruising around Cannes in the south of France on gorgeous matching handlebar vespas and trying to pick up chicks. The vespas are as much a star as they are. Of course, they find some young women in bikinis and try to make out with them on the beach, but they don't get as far as they hoped and decide to spend the next day dragging older women. The end.

Anyway, if you subscribe and have 30 minutes to spare, it's a great visual of vespa culture from that period.

Does anyone have other (obscure or not obscure) old movies to recommend that include significant shots of vespas?

Not a movie but there's an old Vespa in the second season of White Lotus.
They never leave first gear lol.

The animated film Luca is based entirely around Vespa's. Two sea creatures learn they can turn into humans when they go onto land. They fall in love with a rusty blue Vespa and decide to try to buy it. It's actually really good. Both my kids when they saw it ran to me to tell me my Bespa was on TV. I had a beat up blue one as well. Almost identical. Even the rusty front fender was almost exactly the same rust pattern as mine.

The sound for the one from Luca was recorded off a Rally 200 that's local to here (Bay Area) So the new smurfs movie has two vespas one is a 50. Here is a Pic of the maroon rally
