Hello.
I wanted to change my 2008 GTS 250 seat.
I saw a nice GTS 300 seat in the style I wanted.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to fit

Something with the bucket underneath?

I can see on the underside of the seat there is a difference in the plastic..

The 250 seat is the cream one.
The 300 seat is the black one.

What's the best way to resolve it?

You got a "late" 300 seat, from 2014 up.

I think if you measure it you will see that the lip that mates with the pet carrier is wider on the later seat.

This suggests 2 possible solutions:
1) swap the new cover and foam over to your pan. Upholstery shop can do it.
2) or might be as easy as swapping to a late style pet carrier. Maybe stop by your dealer to see if a late one will fit.

I hope juts changing the underseat bucket may help..
It's difficult to get to a supplier near me..

Do you think underseat buckets are similar in dimensions ?

I doubt that will help - the cut-out that the under-seat bucket (a.k.a. pet-carrier) fits in is itself a different shape.

Changing the cover over isn't that difficult - you just need a strong stapler. I've done a couple myself in that past.

I may just sell the seat I have bought and look for a suitable replacement..

Sell them both, and buy the correct seat. You're likely to end up with two ruined seats if you try putting the newer foam on the older pan. 2013 and before will fit. A GT200 seat will fit, but you will have a gap at the fuel filler shroud.
