Just pulled the trigger on a fresh set of brake pads and shoes from EBC. Up front, I went with the HH compound, which supposedly offers more bite without making the disc disappear in a blink. For the rear, well… choice wasn't exactly... how to put it, existing (!) so it's the standard compound by default.

Naturally, it was only after placing the order (hint, hint) that I started wondering what the more seasoned vespisti are actually using on their tuned machines.

So I bring you up to question. Which brakes are you most happy with? I'm not talking full track use, but rather spirited riding through the hills and everyday town traffic.

Cheers!

Malossi, nothing else for me having tried almost every brand. If you're on a budget the 'Made in India' Ferodo are, believe it or not, superb!

Malossi Sport S21 was perfect on my LML and friends PX's. Now on Special with Egig 170 is similar(Sport S10) that was with brake calliper. But I already have MHR S10 for the future.

My chose for the rear is Newfren Anti Aqua or SIP black.

Now I have on P rear Polini Road and Polini Race on Special. Can't say that they worth their money. When time is come I'll go back to Newfren or SIP.

Are you talking about disc brake pads or shoes? Haven't tried the Malossi yet.

Bang for buck for me is a well setup brake with Newfren Aqua, followed by EBC as my Shoe of choice

Pads are always sintered ones... no obviois difference for me on differing brands of said sintered

I should say that I ordered regular EBC pads as well, just for comparison. I mean, at a price of under 6GBP, I was curious, what to say. 😊

Thanks for the thoughts.

Same here, I was told the red Malossi were not too expensive and the best for daily riding, so I blindly bought a pair, and haven't strayed from them since.

That being said, none of my vespas match the anti-dive, radial caliper setup on the Lambretta. Truly no comparison. Next order of business will be to convert to radial on the vespas.

There are not a lot of options for 8" VBC, but i (as pretty sure & will be fitting new hub next week, so will check then) use METAL for TOP shoe & BASIC for BOTTOM shoe...

Bottom engages FIRST, and is more subtle or light braking, when you brake the front dips a bit, which tends to pull on the cable a bit (therefore means it can be on a little bit more than you planned), especially if you hit a bump while braking.
Top engages a bit later, and really comes into play under hard braking. It also helps with BRAKE DIVE, as generally it's not doing a lot & it seems to make it nicer when braking hard.

BTW: they are sanded to engage as I want & about 1 turn (or less) on the adjuster before they start to engage!
