Thinking about installing handguards, but there's not a lot of room on a 2008 MP3 500 handlebar. There are single sided guards available, but that doesn't sound too secure. Seems like they'd vibrate a lot being support on only one side. Any thoughts?

Handguards is a rarity and a oddity on a scooter, and are usually the stuff of adventure and dirt bikes.

If your aim is to reduce cold airflow aka numb finger syndrome you'll be better served with a better windscreen and a good pair of gloves

I don't like gloves that are too thick and bulky plus we get a lot of cold wet fog around here. I also have no problem riding in light rain at times. I think I'll try one of the cheap sets found on Amazon with a similar design to one of the better ones (like Acerbis) to see how well (or bad) it fits. If it works well then I can invest in a better set.

Heated gloves have come a long way while shedding the bulk

These where installed on my 2016 Mp3 500ie Sport.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KODHFU This specific model "Acerbis 2140450001" may not be available anymore, but there are equivalents out there.

These are only attached at the bar-ends so can drop if subjected to sustained vibrations such as rough roads. To combat this I put a bit of soft rubber between the bar-end and the plastic then some thread locker on the screw just before tightening it. This provided enough friction force that drooping wasn't an issue.

You can see them here.

Those handguards look great, but it appears they're no longer available. I have heated grips on my MP3 so I'm a little worried about using one-sided guards. Like I mentioned, I'll probably get some cheap ones just see how they'll fit or if they'll fit at all with the heated grips.
