A while back, I posted about the ABS/ASR failing on my Beverly 350. This also caused the orange light to come on. Around the same time, I had a mechanic come out to fix another issue. He put his diagnostic computer on the bike and confirmed the fault was the front wheel sensor. That's now fixed; the ABS light goes out after the self-check, and I've recalibrated the ABS system, so all is good there. But the damn light will not go out.

I've tried:

Disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes.

Turning the ignition on and off three times at 1-second intervals.

Just riding it.

Riding it for a few miles with the master key in it.

Nothing is working. The orange light is still on.

Now, I realise there might be another fault, but the orange light has been on for months (I was in no rush to change the sensor, so I figured I'd just wait until I put new tyres on it). My thinking is that if there were another fault, it would have shown itself in more ways than just a light on the dash. So I'm reasonably confident the fault is now fixed.

Going to a dealer is not an option, as we have none in Northern Ireland! I could get the mobile guy back out, but that would incur the £20 for the diagnostic work plus the call-out fee, so the guts of £100!

Does anyone have any other ideas for getting rid of the light?

BTW, I have tried to get my own tool for it; I got the FTDI M3, which, despite being advertised as suitable for the BV350, wasn't. It did work on my BV400, though, so no money was wasted.

I am happy to get another diagnostic tool for the BV350 if I can find one that is affordable and actually works.

Any advice is welcome.

How long since you fixed the fault that caused it in the first place? I was thinking perhaps just a few runs without the fault and the system will reset itself, but if it's been a while for you, I'll assume that's not gonna happen!

If your old bv350 has the black 3 pin diag plug then this is an affordable diag tool:
DIY Diagnostic tool for injection Vespa's with MIU ECU

PS, you calibrated the asr not the abs.

Thanks, I did read that ages ago, but I don't have a windows machine.

I've been working this thru with AI, and it seems (or at least the AI claims) that the BV350 is well known for being stubborn at disregarding old fault codes. Something to do with the way the faults are stored. It says this has been picked up from various online resources around the globe, so most likely forums (I'd suggest not English ones, as I'd have found them!).

Anyway, I've now ordered a 3pin to 16pin adaptor cable, and a VGate vLinker MC+ BT OBD2 thingie. Once it's all here it should talk to the BV350 and my iPhone, and then using the software; OBD Fusion, I should be able to see all the faults, and clear them etc. All in it'll be about £80. Bit more than I was hoping for, but if it all works, it'll no doubt be handy for future issues.

I'll post back once it's all arrived and tested. In the mean time, still keen to hear if anyone has another solution.

I got it all sorted in the end. I had to buy a connector cable and a Blurtooth OBD scanner thing, but it's all done.

I'm made a blog about it here with links to the bits I bought.

THANK YOU!!! What an excellent and descriptive write-up for the solution. I'll purchase the parts and attempt to get rid of my orange light too. Thanks for posting this.
