I remove the airbox and air filter. Then pit the frame connection first. Then do tne carb box and use fingers to manipulate the airbox hose in place through the carb box
Get a bowl of hot water outside, stick it in that for 10 mins. It will be nice and flexible to get it on. You can do the same with fitting new handlebar grips too, makes them expand, shove on the handlebars easy and when they cool they are completely tight. I always do the carb box end first paying attention to the slot on the air tube by rotating on the carb box until the slot is roughly lined up between the frame and the hose.
