Hi all,

Still working on the headset. Trying tl dry fit all prior to official install.

I see that they have these rubber inserts in the holes of the metal plate of the headset whwre the selector cables should insert. Just would like to clarify if the cable top hats be inserted in those rubber inserts or not?

Reason im asking is because when I disassembled, there wasn't any top hats there. Only the cables inserted. However they are not fitting too snugly.

The top hats dont fit into those rubber pieces anyways.

So unsure what is the official correct move.

We need someone like SaFiS to get you sorted with 100% certainty, but I think the cable outers wedge into those holes without top hats.

I am just surmising as I dont have a T5, so do take that opinion with a grain of salt.

Need the input of the T5 guru.

Ive dry fitted everything as I disassembled but will wait confirmation before I button it up.

Hi Gents!

Nelluch125: Late response (answering your pm too). Unclip the cable stops from the headset and the cables will go in with the top hats. Wiring wise on following pics, indicators switch loom passes through the hole along with the clutch cable and goes down to the left side of the column behind the cables. From the middle window of the bottom plastic you will route the speedo loom which will go at the right side of the column, along with the lights switch loom and both behind the throttle cable. You will also need to tighten the top nut to 75N·m - 80N·m after you do a ride to align the handlebars. This is a PITA job since the cables must be in unless you test ride it without a front brake. I made a custom socket for the job. Last thing, the bottom plastic is held on the handlebar by two small clips that most of the times are broken and secures itself with 4 screws on the top part. The M8 bolts are for mirror or flyscreen brackets...

The top hats wont fit into those black rubber pieces so im having a hard time with that

The black cable stops (plastic, not rubber) unclip from the headset. On the other side you will see that there's an indent you press in and the stop unclips. Then it will be easier for the cable to go in since they can expand...

Ok. I see that! And you say once they are unclipped the top hats fit in those plastic pieces?

Ok. So install without top hat into the plastic cable guides.

I figured that was the case but I have been wrong before. Best to consult with all of you.
