Sorry if this has been discussed to death, but I'm still confused if I can get a duplicate made for my '79 125x. Scooterwest states on their website the only way to obtain keys is buying a $50 switch. Some people say a volvo key will work? I'm just looking to get a cheap backup key made for emergencies.

Maybe you could go by a locksmith and ask them to compare your key to a Volvo key. Laughing emoticon

Well I will, I was just trying to get some info first. I don't see a blank on scooter mercado, unless I missed it... and scooter west says there's no way.

I recently had all my keys duplicated at a locksmith here in Omaha for 1980 P125X. The trick is finding the right blank. Here are a couple of pics of my ignition keys. The one with black I believe is original. It's the only only one I got with the scoot. The duplicated key was cut on a ilco 1627 blank. Do you have a key to copy? Good luck!
