Modern Vespa

Looking at the book the flap over the fuel cap doesn't push and turn clockwise release the cover. Should this do it or am I being dim. The key will not push and turn anticlockwise to lock the steering. I am new to this machine. How do you turn the ECO off.

Which generation mp3 or model year do you have?

On gen 3 mp3 models, eco mode is turned off by pressing and holding the starter button while the engine is running. The engine must be running to enable or disable eco mode. Release the starter button when the ECO icon disappears. Same procedure to enable ECO mode

Re the steering lock, make sure the handle is turned all the way left and hold it fully turned while using your other hand to turn the key to the OFF (0) position THEN push and turn anti clockwise to engage the steering lock.

For the fuel door, same procedure as above but push and turn clockwise

How do I know which generation it is. The key pushes but not turn in either direction.

What model year bike do you have and where are you located?

Log book says 1995. If that helps.

It's a 68 plate uk. So 2018-2019

If it looks like the mp3 in the pic below then it is a gen 3 bike.

Does the bike have its original factory keys (black user key + brown master key with Piaggio logo) or any records of lost keys or problems with the keys?

Only got the one key. Its a 2018-2019

No records of any thing about the scoot.

That's a problem, since you won't be able to add extra keys into the ECU/immobilizer except clone your current key.

Is this why I cannot open the fuel flap?

Is there any way I can get a master key fron piaggio?

This stuff is new to me.

Normally, the black key lets you open the fuel door and operate the steering lock.

Maybe your lock is damaged, preventing you from pushing the key into the detent? Just a guess

I suggest you push really hard when the key is in the OFF (0) position. You should feel the key sink in slightly.

Whatever you do, do NOT use excessive clockwise or anti clockwise force

Thank you for your help and input. I need to find a workshop manual then I know what is in the lock and flap. I want one so I know what torque settings for when I need to do work on it.

My fuel flap won't open with the ignition method as the cable requires replacing however if you put the key under the flap at the top left or right corner of the flap it pops open with ease
