Modern Vespa

I used to see a pink Vespa parked in the city streets
dept. lot.
I got tired of banging over a bridge with a rough gap at the metals edge. I phoned the city street dept. - and explained to the girl who answered the phone my complaint.
She said, " I know just the area you mean!" She had the pink Vespa and had to cross the same area on her way to work at the streets dept!!
The next afternoon, coming home from work, that whole edge of the bridge was smoothed with a fresh spread of black-top!!!

A once in a lifetime govt. reply to a phone call from a scooter riding citizen

It was a clear night, one could see all the galaxies from Planet Earth.
Returning home after checking on planetary conditions, our protagonist found himself on the same ground portal (that's a road in earthspeak) where he experienced a puncture of epic proportions a few weeks ago. He slowed to a crawl to finesse his way past the errant plate, and, lo and behold, the governing bodies of the ground portal saw fit to reset the plate and use black smelly stuff (I think humans call it asphalt) so the sharp corner isn't sticking up.

Fixed it was.
