How much does the key turn to release the cover? It will press and turn clockwise to lock the steering but will press an turn a little but does not open the cover. As I do not want to damage the plastics by forcing the cover open, how do I access the back of the switch? There are spare unused button spaces on the console that I could use after getting button set from piaggio and wire to the key switch. Where in the UK can parts be bought?

I suspect the only problem is operator error
Have you read the owner's manual in detail? |

Done all that. Suspect an electrical fault or failed catch. Got to work out how access the back of the key switch and the catch.

I think on this it is electric because there is a remote button on a small device two. One button for the seat release an other the flashes the indicators. Not sure why as yet.

slightly warped door. if you do the unlock and at the same time use a credit card or similar you can help the door open.
the fix is to lightly heat the hinge side of the door and put some extra tension on the hinge to sort of reform it and hold it while it cools down. this helps put some extra tension on the catch so when you do the unlock it pops more open. |

I have seen diagrams of the 300 that shows cable but wiring diagrams for the 400 shows electric release. Mine is a 350 lt abs sport.

My 2008 500 has both remote electrical release and a cable release activated by the key at the ignition switch. The key has a transmitter and button for remote release. Of course, the electrical remote release isn't working in mine, but I believe it's just a matter of linking (programming) the key to the ECU, which I haven't done yet.

I of course, have not got the master key as I am the third owner and as usual the unused key gets lost and not passed on.

Leemo wrote: I understand, how does the button work on the dash work 1. Electric way: Using a dash button, remote in the key or any other electric gadget. It activate a solenoid that opens the seat 2. Mechanic way: Pushing and twist the key in the correct direction (the opposed one to the direction that opens the fuel door) Imagine it as a redundant system, if you don't have a charged battery you can open the seat. For the fuel door, all, that I know, before the 530 use the key in the switch and rotate to open the door, not electric. ⚠️ Last edited by dariusz on UTC; edited 1 time

Wait a minute. Now there is a problem opening the seat?
What happened to the fuel door problem? This thread is so confusing I can't keep up anymore I suggest OP clarify what exactly is the problem and start a fresh thread for each problem instead of throwing everything into a single thread |

Sorry, I may have added to the confusion by including my two cents worth. Leemo asked about the seat release so I answered.

To clarify
I have a problem with the fuel flap not releasing. The key switch does not work. Some one here said it was cable release as is the seat. I said imust be electric (the seat) as there is abutton on the dash under the bars. On the drawings I have seen the 300 is cable release but the 400 is electric according to the wiring diagrams. Back to the fuel flap the key does not release it neither does the remote. I can not hear any sounds of operating. How do gain access to the back of the key switch and the flap lock. I want to fixed it as levering it open will damage it over time. Sorry for the confusion, it got last in the conversation |

Regarding the fuel door, there is no key switch. The ignition barrel mechanism is purely mechanical and mechanically unlatches the fuel door (operated by a bowden cable)
Let's park the seat business conversation for a different thread to avoid a repeat |
