My new 13" Pordoi wheels arrived on Monday, a few days after ordering from SIP. However, I recieved a VM from Fedex that package was held in customs pending additional information.

I had to make 2 phone calls, first was they did not know what the contents was,
took me 15 minutes for them to understand what wheels for a Vespa are. I then checked the status after a day or so and no change.

So a second call, they needed to know the country of origin that did the casting of the wheels (not sure why I was not asked that on the first call). Now it takes another customs review, hopefully I will get them next week sometime, should have been delivered on Tuesday Crying or Very sad emoticon

Paluss,
SIP does high volume sales and does ship worldwide. Sounds like just a mistake that an employee failed to complete the customs form. Contents and country of origin are always required, but people make mistakes.
I worked with(not for) CBP from 1988 until 2012 and we had lots of recipients blaming us when foreign shippers wouldn't complete the forms correctly. Glad to hear FedEx working with you to get it processed as a few agents will just sent them back or dispose of items.
My worst feelings were always for the returning military shipping their own belongings home and getting stuck in customs.

I'm sorry to say you should prepare your wallet for the absurd level of taxes and duties they'll charge you.

I had an order with Easy Parts in the Netherlands since the end of July on backorder. It was shipped the second week of September. The total order value was $84 plus shipping. I had to pay UPS $66 in taxes and duties.

A total absurdity, paying almost 79% in taxes and duties

In the past, when the pound or dollar was low, I bought quite a bit from the US and Great Britain.
But shipping costs from the US have risen sharply, and Great Britain wanted to leave the EU, which caused problems with customs and import duties.
If that applies to me, it will apply to many people in the EU.

We've been talking about this on the NSM side for a while. Google HS-7 declaration form. You may need to send one in to get your package from whichever customs office it's held at. I found a UPS agent to help me fill it out but you want to fill out Description, check box 2A, check box 13, Name of Importer, Name of Declarant, Importers Address, Declarantd address, Declarants signature and date.

FedEx required it last time I used them (a year ago). UPS is just now requiring it as well. UPS also didn't tell me I needed to send one but just did on my own after waiting weeks for a package and seeing it in Kentucky at a customs facility. Prepare for minimum 50% customs and duty fees. 65% has been the average we've noticed.

Hey all -- just a friendly reminder that politics is still verboten.

That said, the reality of the situation is that tariffs, coupled with the US government shutdown, has made shipping things internationally especially challenging right now. Acknowledging these simple facts of reality is not a political statement, and no member will be penalized for discussing this as it relates to things like receiving SIP orders.

What does cross the line, however, is when you start assigning blame to political figures or parties for the current situation. The reality is both extremely complex and highly nuanced, and not at all the purview of discussion on this forum. So let's just stick to the facts and leave the bickering to the idiots on Facebook.

I hope that's clear.

That's what I love about MV, no matter who we side with, all that stuff gets shelved. Right on, Jess. This is such a great forum. I'm not blowing smoke up your ass. We love scoots and thanks for keeping it that way!
