I have a friend's PX150 here. This bike has all of 600 miles on it and is like new. Starts one kick.
Battery was shot and wouldn't charge so I put in a brand new charged battery. Turn the key and nothing. No 'dash' lights, no crank. Zip. There's a 75W fuse on the side of the battery box that tests good and there is continuity between one terminal and pos. wire to the battery. Continuity between neg. wire and frame. Any ideas? Another fuse hidden somewhere?

EDIT: sorry, that's a 7.5 w fuse...

I would next check for voltage at the front wiring junction box. You will need to pull the horn cast off to access. Maybe something got disconnected there. If all is good there then move on to key switch.

'05 w/starter. Haven't found a schematic yet.. maybe Stella's?
There is power on red wire at switch. Popped the back off and it looks mint inside. Wires to switch : red, white, green, black.

The way that model is designed, i'm pretty sure that no lights whatsoever will turn on until the engine is actually running.

And for the starter not working, you have to pull in the clutch lever when you depress the starter button.

Also, there are no hidden fuses on that model.

Check the glove box. You might find a wiring diagram in the owners manual.

I'm going to guess that RED= 12V pos. GREEN = kill wire which gets grounded via key switch. White =keyed on 12V pos. BLACK = Ground. See if you can bypass the switch by applying 12v pos to the WHITE wire. If everything comes on then there is an issue with switch or WHITE wire or its connection.

The 2005 US market PX150's wire harness is its own unique beast. It's completely different from any other PX, including the European PX's. The wire diagram can be found, but it's not in the owner's manual.

I am an idiot and not familiar with these modern versions.... I wasn't pulling the clutch. I assumed that, at least, I'd see some lights come on in the speedo.
Starts right up and runs like new.
Thank you for your time.
He should lose the rusty rack or get a new one.

The only reason i said that was because i did the exact same thing with my very first 2005 PX. I thought the lights were burned out on the speedo and the starter was broken too. At one point, owned four of these at the same time. I'm now down to three. I'm still on the hunt for a green colored 2005 PX150 to round out my collection.

That looks like a Series America. I love the color and uses to have one. I'm still lamenting moving that bike along..

Good job on getting it sorted!

The embarrassing part is that I should have known.

A few years ago I bought a cheap but really nice Stella just to flip it. Also, for 50 years now, the newest car I have owned has been a 60's vintage Saab. After 25 years of driving my '68 95 wagon, I finally decided to restore it and just ran out of time to get it back on the road before salt season (won't drive the '63 96 or the '60 Bugeye and scooters don't have heaters and suck in the snow) so I broke down and bought an '09 Impreza Outback Sport Wagon 5-speed a few weeks ago and I keep forgetting to push the clutch to the floor to start it
.
All my life I have had a crappy memory and turning 75 in a few weeks, I can truly say that it hasn't gotten any better.

I hate those "I should have known" moments. I try to remember to laugh at myself and remember we're all on this crazy train called life.

Also, not to be "smarty pants", but fuses are rated in amps, not watts.
So the fuse is 7.5A.
And yes, all electric start PXs always have had the clutch starter interlock switch for both safety and to prevent the starter to engage the flywheel when the engine is running.

You are, of course, correct. And yes, I knew that, too.
