I went through this on my 200 (not missing the spring, just it getting gummed up and not opening up so I could latch the seat). I ended up getting the new latch - it's cheap and an easy fix.

Well this scooter only has 200 miles on it.. lol I popped down to ACE Hardware and found one, works like a charm!
